We are back for Round 26!
In the event of a tie both will carry on to the next day to meet some other challenger. I will try and vary the sources from comics to TV show characters.
I'm also going to add a bit of story to this to make it interesting, it's still a favorite poll but it's going to have continuity!
I will happily take requests for future opponents. But in the meantime we have to continue the story ...
--------------------------------------
*Last time Gambithad stopped the Thief and retrieved the collar only for Iron man to arrive and claim this is a S.H.I.E.L.D concern*
Iron Man: Gambit there is no need to concern yourself he may have stolen from the X-Men but he is a part of a far greater plot which must be solved.
Gambit: Fair enough.
*Gambit walks off leaving Ironman with the Robber.*
Iron Man: Your coming with me.
*Two days later we are in a holding cell Ironman is interrogating the thief.*
Iron Man: For the last time, Who are you working for?
Robber: I could tell you but then it might ruin the suprise.
Iron Man: What suprise?
Robber: This one!
*The robber quick as anything places his hand on Ironman's chest plater and in a second they are gone.*
Nick Fury: Damn it, find them!!
*Ironman finds himself and the thief in a world of lava and demonic imagery.*
Iron Man: This is not real we are not in Mephisto's realm I can tell, Who are you?
The Vanisher: I'm just a humble servant for a greater power, a power who has plans for world domination, but you are right this is not Mephisto's realm. Merely a back lot from a movie studio down the road.
*Can Ironman find out the information from the Vanisher?*
Iron Man
Born Anthony Edward "Tony" Stark, he suffers a severe heart injury during a kidnapping and is forced to build a destructive weapon. He instead creates a power suit to save his life and help him escape. He later decides to use the suit to protect the world as the superhero, Iron Man. He is a wealthy industrialist and genius inventor who created military weapons and whose metal suit is laden with technological devices that enable him to fight crime. Initially, Iron Man was a vehicle for Stan Lee to explore Cold War themes, particularly the role of American technology and business in the fight against communism. Subsequent re-imaginings of Iron Man have gradually removed the Cold War themes, replacing them with more contemporary concerns such as corporate crime and terrorism. Throughout most of the comic's history, Iron Man has been a member of the superhero team the Avengers and has been featured in several incarnations of his own various comic book series. The character has been adapted for several animated TV shows, as well as for the 2008 live action films Iron Man and a cameo in The Incredible Hulk where he is played by Robert Downey, Jr.
vs
Vanisher
Much of the Vanisher's actual life remains unknown, aside from his criminal career, though he was apparently born in Milton, Massachusetts. He is a mutant that possesses the ability to teleport himself, his clothes, and an as yet undetermined amount of additional mass. Apparently the Vanisher traverses the Darkforce dimension when teleporting from one place on Earth to another. His power appears to be psionic in nature. The Vanisher's teleportational range and the maximum amount of mass he can teleport with himself are unknown, but he can teleport himself and several others from southern California to New York State without any visible strain. The Vanisher has a subconscious extrasensory ability that prevents him from materializing part or all of his body within a solid object, even if he has never before been to the area he is teleporting to. This allows Vanisher to teleport with greater ease than Nightcrawler. In his first appearance, he steals continental defense plans from the United States government, and then attempts to blackmail the U.S. government by publicly threatening to sell the plans to communists unless he receives 10 million dollars. The Vanisher, with a large group of non-mutant followers, then goes to the front lawn of the White House to await his payment. Professor Xavier and the X-Men are able to intervene when Xavier induces amnesia upon the Vanisher. Forgetting he has mutant powers, the Vanisher is taken into police custody and the rest of the X-Men defeat the unruly followers. He isnotable as the first villain the X-men face as a team.
