We open with the Hardy Boys beating Lance Storm and Hurricane to win the WCW Tag Titles. The Hurricane and Storm turned into 3 Count and did all of their old spots, and JR even referenced the connection the wrestlers all have through OMEGA. Not boring at all, but I’ve seen the Hardy Boyz match formula for years and for years it has remained unchanged. 1 1/2 stars.
Test beat Kane. Kane opens up by putting the Brother Grimm SquashDown! on Test, and Test actually sold it. Test comes back after getting Gorilla Pressed outside and knocks Kane down with the ring bell right in front of the nWo ref. Test hits some really nice offensive moves, including a diving back elbow off the second turnbuckle, and even manages to throw in a little [psychology by failing attempt after attempt to get off his pump handle slam and missing his first attempt at his Macho Man/Shawn Michaels Flying Elbow. Regardless, Kane mounts a little bit of a mini comeback only to end up picking on the referee, and eating a boot that supposedly really hurts more than all the other high impact offense that Test uses. 2 stars.
Torrie beat Stacy. It was 2 hot women rolling around and getting pretty damn physical whilst wearing lingerie. 1 star.
Edge beat Christian to win the IC Title in a ladder match. For the stage they’re at in their careers and considering they’ve been doing 99% tag team work for the past 3 years, it was a great feat to pull off a singles ladder match of this calibre for these guys. 3 1/2 stars.
WWF Tag Champs Dudley Boys beat Big Show and Tajiri to retain. Easily the worst actual wrestling match on the card. Every spot was predictable and the outcome was so obvious. The main problem with this match is that the Big Show sucks and the Dudleyz are so damn boring now. 1/2 star.
Undertaker beat Booker T. As good as any match involving the Undertaker was going to get? It doesn’t seem like he’s so damn good he’s untouchable, it seems like although he isn’t pretending to be dead anymore he still won’t drop the gimmick of no selling his opponents. 1/2 star.
Chris Jericho beat The Rock to win the WCW World Title. This match was so awesome, second only to Austin v Rock at WM XVII out of all of this year’s PPV matches (in my opinion anyway). Both men worked so hard in this match to make it great, and they succeeded very well. The crowd was definitely into this match, and Jericho seemed to get more and more over as the match went on.The finish could have been a bit cleaner though, maybe The Rock just being distracted by Steph could have been enough to give Jericho the advantage and the chair wasn’t really needed. 4 1/2 stars.
Steve Austin beat RVD and Kurt Angle in a 3 way dance to retain the WWF World Title. How long was this match? 10 minutes? Either the abundance of spots made it go by faster, or they really gave us a damn short offering. This was definitely the second best match on the card, with Angle doing a moonsault so high and so awesome looking I thought it was Essa Rios, and RVD Cannonballing from the top outside and getting mainly the floor. Austin was the glue that held everything together, from Kurt Angles awesome spots that also included a running top rope belly to belly, don’t ask; just watch, and RVDs high flying insanity spots. The match really did go by way too quickly though, and that made it more like an old Hardy Boyz match (remember when they were still fun?) then a main event. 4 stars.
The undercard pretty much sucked, but I think the last two matches really were fun, and thus, I reccomend getting this.
