Eddie Guerrero and Chris Jericho are great either as heel or face.
But the issue is, even if they are heels, we still cheer for them.
Except when they are wrestling against a really over face.
Kurt Angle works better as heel, though. I don't really like as face. Opposite goes for Booker T. He was always better as a face.
Kane may not have a lot of charisma or mic skill, but he can hold his own against The WWE's best. He is a bad good guy - he is evil, but fans like him for it.

To bring the last couple years of WCW into this discussion is not even fair. I don't think anyone knew what the hell anyone was during that time period. Everyone just seemed so dark and miserable that it was hard to distinguish the good guys from the bad.
I have to agree with Kane. He goes back and forth far too much for my taste.

Yes, the smarks do.
But I assume you're talking about marks, which isn't true.

Kane has flipped in the same episode of Raw. Hell, he's flipped in the smae match. What was he at this years WM, face or heel? and why? What is he now? He seemed face against Christian, but was heel against Benoit? What the hell is Kane? ?

Kurt Angle is another one that goes from heel to face too much. That fact will hurt Angle's legacy more than the injuries will.

What the hell are you talking about? He was facing JBL at that abortion of a PPV, Judgement Day 2004. He hasn't been heel in years! What the hell you talkin about? Eddie was a heal a year and a half ago!
