I voted Demolition, I wish I could see there was some bullet points of deep seeded logic but really no reason other than I always liked them more.. Ditto. They also have the distinction of being the only wrestler(s) I ever dressed up as for Halloween in elementary school. I don't buy the "Demolition were horrible workers compared to the ring-general Road Warriors" point of view. Not to say that Demolition was exactly a pillar of captivating ringwork...sure, they mostly were punch-kick. However, the Road Warriors weren't that great either, and unless someone thinks no-selling and using the same power moves over and over is amazing, I don't see why anyone else would think they were. The reason they likely couldn't/wouldn't do a Demolition DVD set like they are doing the Road Warriors set is because Demolition wasn't together nearly as long, and during the Superstars/Challenge era most of the matches we saw wrestlers in were squashes, which wouldn't make for a very fascinating DVD. Sure, they COULD do it...they did have enough noteworthy matches to fill up a disc or two, but it would seem kind of stretching it a bit. I'm sort of glad Demolition had their run and was "retired" before they became ridiculed and they did something like...oh, I dunno...have Smash fall off of the Titantron while depressed and screwed up on drugs. Worst it ever got for them was wearing masks and losing to Japanese wrestlers that were never seen in the WWF again.

Demolition all the way!!!! they were much much cooler, much more intimidating and wrestling wise in my opinion Ax & Smash were better than Hawk & Animal.

Demolition was a huge joke to me when they came out, just a total RR rip-off. I am surprised they weren't called the Highway fighters or something.

and what exactly was so great about the road warriors? the didn't know any wrestling moves either except for the doomsday device. all the little kids just liked them because they looked cool. and demolition never came back 15 years passed their prime and were named Demolition 2000 with gay space helmets. Demolition wins. HA! Funniest post I've seen in weeks. Also, I voted Demolition Ax & Smash. They had no need for plastic red shoulder pads.

It's not that significant that you ripped something off when it was ripped off a Mel Gibson movie.....

I think the original LOD wins this...even though I never liked them that much...E and C are easily the coolest tag team of all time

Ax and Smash... of course. However, I'm disappointed that the legendary combos of Ax and Randy "Smash" Culley, as well as Ax and Blast were not included in the poll. Better luck next time, Blast. Or how about that one Summerslam evening when Jim Duggan declared himself "King Demolition." Duggan with the Demos...what a trio!!!! They would've won this poll outright.

Gotta go with the L.O.D. on this one.
They were more fun to watch in the ring.
PLUS the originated the whole "tough, crazy ass guys with facepaint on who beat the crap out of everybody" gimmick!!!
When you heard the opening of "Iron Man" come on (or later, their WWF theme) you knew they were gonna hit the ring and start beating ass.
I mean, granted the Road Warriors weren't "technical" wrestlers. They were pretty much just 1980s style, 'roided up, power wrestlers. But they were good at working those kinds of matches and made them fun to watch.
Demolition was cool, but compared to Hawk and Animal they just looked like two middle aged fat guys in S&M gear!!

Demolition is to the Road Warriors as Gilberg is to Goldberg

Demolition is to the Road Warriors as Gilberg is to Goldberg exactly Demolition was a LOD rip off. I'm just guesing everyone was socialized into the WWF and never really watched LOD in the mid 80's.

Demolition!
I couldn't care less if they're regarded as a Road Warriors' rip-off. Wrestling business is living on rip-offs, sometimes it works, sometimes doesn't. IMO, with Demolition it worked well.
I never had the chance to watch the Warriors during their NWA years, but I wasn't impressed at all by their WWF stint.
In my incomplete perspective, LOD were Demoliton rip-off...

Demolition are a legendary WWE tag team.
The Legion of Doom are a legendary tag team in wrestling. The LOD obviously.

Again I ask how do you rip off something that's a rip off of Mad Max? How damn you! Simple. Road Warriors were big "wrestling" stars prior to the creation of Demolition. Demolition won ALL of it's 3 tag team titles in 1989! One year is the total summation of everything Demolition accomplished. Road Warriors won 3 WWF/NWA Tag team titles in a decade. Oddly enough Demolition was created and won there 1st tag title WHILE Road Warriors were already tag champions. Demolition won and lost teh title 2 more times until being wiped off WWE TV when Vince signed the Road Warriors around 90-91. Demoltion was visibly WWF's attempt at counter acting the Road Warriors in the NWA. Then WWE sign the Raod Warriors and there was no need for a bunch of face painted S&Mers who couldn't do 1/2 of what LOD could do.

Well then just say that they were better in the ring (I guess?) instead of saying they're rip offs, there were a ton of Mad Max rip offs not LOD rip offs for example the Blade Runners.....

Its' clear WWE tried to capitalize by realizing the gimmick WORKED in the NWA. Baring the fact the Blade Runners became Sting and Warrior I seriously doubt you would know who the ehll they were. WWE tried to make there own "Road Warriors" It's a rip off. Watching wrestling at the time I then even saw it was a rip off.
