Its the end of the 1992 Royal Rumble, Flair is in the back getting the belt from Jack Tunney. we switch back to the ring where Hogan and Sid are being kept apart by some officials. Sid is pointing out to Hogan that a large part of the crowd is chanting his name and not Hogans, why was Sid so over as a "face" when he'd just illiminated Hogan ?

By this point in his WWF career Hogan was getting stale with fans and they wanted someone new to cheer...
That's what I thought at least...
Since Sid was booked as a face at the time, and Hogan pretty much pulled a heel move by helping Flair eliminate him...he did what the fans didn't want to see...and that's Flair winning over Sid.

There was a huge question mark as to whether or not Sid would be in the Rumble (on WWF TV, I mean). He had a broken arm or something and no one was sure if he would be in it. A week or two before the Rumble it was finally announced he would be taking part in it.
I recall being my grandmother's kitchen, watching the annoucement Sid would be in the Rumble...and being rather happy. Now I wonder why.

Think about it....almost every year it had been the same thing. A heel challenger built up only to be destroyed by Hogan. Bundy, Andre, Savage, Slaughter...
It was just hella repetative and the fans were bored with it

going into the rumble was the plan all along for sid to turn heel and then feud with hogan at wrestlemania? or did they have to turn him heel cuz he was getting more cheers than hogan?

why was Sid so over as a "face" when he'd just illiminated Hogan ? Cuz Hogan suxxx!!! No seriously, I don't know why, but I was surprised and happy that maybe the crowd, like myself, was getting sick of seeing Hogan.
