The loveable loser, who can do good with any gimmick given to him.
He made things that should be wrestlecrap and got them over.
His character was always performed over the top and dopey.
I really Hope He, Meanie, and Nova are paired up for real in WWE to take out Masters...
Just want to watch the ppv to hear..
"WE'RE TAKING OVER!"

However, I can't help notice a bias, considering the fact that Bob Holly is in fact a veteran of the ring, he's actually okay in the ring, though his mic skills are dull, and he also has jobbed out to everyone. But yet there is no such adoration for him. When chris masters broke steve richards nose, there were people on these boards calling for him to be crucified, but yet when Lesnar injured bob holly's neck, everyone was relieved to see him go for months. Sounds a lil prejudiced, don't you think? Stevie Richards is a guy who puts everyone over and is a guine nice guy, who had his face broken by an incompetant opponent. Bob Holly is a complete dick with a severe attitude problem who tried to sandbag Lesner during a powerbomb because Holly was jealous of Lesnar's push and got what his bitter ass deserved. There's a difference, a big one.

I agree. I never saw anything overly awesome about Stevie, but this is the WWE and you have to look quite hard sometimes to find the hidden "awesomeness" in a certain worker. Stevie never really was overwhelming, but I feel the same way about Christian. Both are entertaining, but are seriously overrated.

Stevie Richards is loved because he's one of the most under-rated guys in WWE. Aside from being a good worker in-ring, he's superb on the mic, arguably one of the most under-rated in WWE. When he ran the RTC, he took a stupid midcard angle and, through his own fantastic work, made himself the most hated guy on the roster at the time. He's a guy who could have made WWE a lot of money as an upper-card heel or as the magaer for someone else, yet they've failed to appreciate him enough. Besides, he's a tough guy, too. He's suffered a lot of seriosu injuries over the years and just keeps bouncing back. If I remember rightly, he worked his entire WCW stint with a broken neck he didn't know about and only discovered he had after one bad bump 7 months or so after the fact. Well said. I think another facet in his popularity among smart fans was the run-up and anticipation of his ECW title win in the summer of '97. He was built up to be a hardcore Shawn Micheals, a talented wrestler, good looking guy, but legit tough and respectful of the biz, which HBK was not at that point. Hardcore fans just really took to him and then felt sorry for the guy when a pretty nasty injury ended the title hunt, and appeared at the time to end his career entirely.

Hey, if Benoit is considered overrated, there's no doubt about Christian.

There's a difference, a big one. That's what I was going to say! I really enjoy your posts and your Sahara Hotnights sig! And now, my StevieChick moment will now commence: Stevie rocks for the simple reason that he is entertaining. He can get a character over so bad, that people hoenstly can't see beyond the gimmick. (See his days as "the Clueless Putz, Stevie Richards"). And as someone else in this thread once said, he took things that should have been wrestlecrap and made them over. He and Raven IMHO, are two of the best minds in this business because they can toss around ideas and then execute them to perfection, drawing the crowd in at a moments notice. It is a shame that he is jobbed out. But there are some good memories like "Stevie Night Heat". And plus, look at that gorgeous hair! In addition, he seems like he would be a pretty cool guy to meet. The RTC thing really suprised me, I would assume that even more Stevie fans were shocked, confused and just plain disoriented when he cut his hair. That gimmick really certified him as one of the most underrated on the roster. He can multi-task, yet he is not allowed to. I'd rather see him than some of the folks they have working the lower mid-card on Raw right now (Viscera *cough*). Okay, I'd rather see Stevie anytime. For all your Stevie needs, look no further than www.stevieland.net!

Also, you show the fans love, they will love back. Unless of course, they are all hard-asses living in a post Attitude world.

I personally never saw him in ECW, since I've never seen ECW. But from what I've seen from his work in the WWE, even if he jobs to pretty much everyone, the guys is filled with talent and potential. I don't understand why isn't the WWE giving him a proper push.

I say send him to smackdown as a joke in the draft but upon arrival proves everyone wrong by actually winning. And to top it all off, he gets a U.S. Title match on wrestlemania. If not, have smackdown give him away to RAW after the trade, and he gets so pissed he proves everyone wrong. Same scenario, different brands = IC champ Stevie.

Simply put...
In the internet wrestling world, the less of a push you have, the more popular you are.
Zero Push: Stevie, Christian, Paul London=IWC Love Hugh Push:Cena, HHH, HBK = IWC Hatred
The IWC loves to root for a wrestler until everyone else roots for them, then they hate them.
You're seeing it already with Batista, and he's only been Champ for 6 weeks.
