I have not really seen him wrestle much or talk on the mic much. I havent really seen any ecw stuff or the nBo with stevie. I saw a little bit of the RTC with him as the leader. Is he a phenominal athlete or what? If you all love him he must be really good and I have just not been able to see him much. Nice guitar shot Stevie

We all took an oath a very long time ago. It was decided that, no matter what, Stevie Richards is awesome.
Actually, Stevie has the blessing of being good in the ring, and being very entertaining.

Steven Richards is loved in my opinion due to really 'breaking-out- obviously in ECW, and is a GREAT promo/talker, an incredible wrestler, but sadly is usually left jobbing on Heat.

I guess a lot of these people enjoyed his ECW/WCW stuff. I've only seen a little of his ECW stuff, and wasn't really impressed. He just seems like a waste of space in WWE to me, but a lot of people like him. He just doesn't do it for me.

Yes...yes, he was. Quite briefly, and for good reasons. If possible, check out the extra on the Rise and Fall of ECW dvd where Stevie tells the story.

Short lived, in Raven's wcw flock.
No, I never understood the Stevie love. I wouldn't really care if they let him go. I've never really cared for him.

He was in the flock? That must have gone pretty badly.
What is his best match? and has he won any major titles from any organization?

Stevie is decent in the ring.
Stevie is great on the mic.
He is a genuinely funny man when he has freedom on the mic. In ECW he was damn funny. He really should be utilized as either a manager or an annoucer at least. I still think he has a ton of potential.

Stevie was in multiple world title matches in ECW, and had the tag titles with Raven in ECW.
I've always loved Stevie. He was such a symPATHETIC character in ECW, and he was the beloved goof. Who remembers the chants of "Stevie's Got A Girlfriend" when he was with Francine? He was Raven's lackey, but probably the worst person in the world to have as a lackey. The time he brought Divine Brown in for Raven was hysterical.
Then the Blue World Order...that was just comical genious. "We're taking over!" And the thing is to, you just wanted to see him succeed with the gimmick.
The only time in WWE where he's had a gimmick that came close to tapping his potential was with RTC, because he knew how to play it just over the top enough that you couldn't help but like it.
Plus the guy has a Motley friggin' Crue tattoo.
Also, he's one of those guys that is basically garunteed a WWE job for life, as none other than Vince McMahon himself is a Stevie fanboy.

Stevie Richards is loved because he's one of the most under-rated guys in WWE. Aside from being a good worker in-ring, he's superb on the mic, arguably one of the most under-rated in WWE. When he ran the RTC, he took a stupid midcard angle and, through his own fantastic work, made himself the most hated guy on the roster at the time. He's a guy who could have made WWE a lot of money as an upper-card heel or as the magaer for someone else, yet they've failed to appreciate him enough.
Besides, he's a tough guy, too. He's suffered a lot of seriosu injuries over the years and just keeps bouncing back. If I remember rightly, he worked his entire WCW stint with a broken neck he didn't know about and only discovered he had after one bad bump 7 months or so after the fact.

Ah, so that explains why he's a permanent contender on Heat, got put in the worst match ever vs. Tomko at Taboo Tuesday, and got his nose broken by a no talent hoss.

Never said that translated to giving the guy a major push. But that said, at least he has a job. Unlike a lot of other people (Test, Matt Hardy, Rico, Johnny Stamboli, Rodney Mack, Jazz, Nidia, Gail Kim. Chuck Palumbo. A-Train. Billy Gunn. Jamie Noble. Sakoda, Rikishi, etc)

Stevie has a job for life because he helped McMahon in one of his vendettas at the expense of his own career. ( the RTC).
I remember when he was pegged as "the next Shawn Michaels". He is very talented, although less so since he had that horrible knee injury.

I remember when he begged and pleaded with Shawn Michaels in a WWF Magazine (as a columnist none the less) to allow him to use Sweet Chin Music as his finisher. He apparently is just a big of a HBK mark as Funaki is.

My view is that because he was in ECW and was underused in the fans eyes that this equals the godlike status he currently has
Personally I don't quite get it myself but hey..........diff strokes for diff folks and all that

I have asked myself this very question numerous times on this board. Granted, Richard's is a talented performer. He has good mic skills and real in ring talent. It always perplexed me that he was never in the run for the CW title. I remember loving RTC just because I thought it was so damn funny.
But, that being said, I think the real reason everyone seems to love him so much is because he's the underdog. Its in our psychology to love the underdog. And also he is a genuinely laid back guy who doesn't take what he does too seriously, otherwise he would not so willingly job to everyone on the roster, fill a permenant slot on heat, and even allow himself to be emberassed by promo's such as "steve richards could win the battle royal!" Simply put, he's a good sport.
However, I can't help notice a bias, considering the fact that Bob Holly is in fact a veteran of the ring, he's actually okay in the ring, though his mic skills are dull, and he also has jobbed out to everyone. But yet there is no such adoration for him. When chris masters broke steve richards nose, there were people on these boards calling for him to be crucified, but yet when Lesnar injured bob holly's neck, everyone was relieved to see him go for months. Sounds a lil prejudiced, don't you think?

I love him because he manages to pull double duty. He works as both a G.M. and a wrestler. How dare Titan Tower only give him ONE paycheck! Oh yea, he also owns a corporation.
