Angry at the Heart Throbs (Heat Spoilers)

Romeo Roselli of the Heartthrobs isn't the most popular figure backstage right now, with heat on him as many believe he is developing a big ego. Roselli recently attempted to get more money out of an independent promotion with less than 24 hours before the show was scheduled to go ahead.

Several sources state that Roselli requested more money as he had been booked for months and was a "TV Star" now. There are laughable suggestions that Roselli did this because of advice from his parents. There were also complaints voiced that he might get injured before the night of his PPV debut, and while that was a valid claim, many wrestlers took that as an insult considering he would be working with vetrans such as Mick Foley and Jerry Lawler. To make matters even worse, Jonathon "The Coach" Coachman worked the show sick.

There is a running joke that Roselli is lucky he isn't in on SmackDown! where he would have to deal with the likes of Undertaker and JBL. There are also suggestions that Regal and Tajiri may have worked stiff on the Heartthrobs on the Sunday Night Heat taping this week to send a message to Roselli (Antonio), who ended up with a black eye.

I never condone wrestling stiff on purpose, no matter how much the guy deserves it. When two guys put on a match, they are entrusting their lives to one another. To take advantage of this is not right.

But in all seriousness, what the newbie did was immature. Maybe this will knock some sense into him. The WWE backstage is still very old school when it comes to these matters.

I agree, and once again I just think this shows how the world of wrestling is completely different than the rest of the world. Assume that you have an office job, and one of the new hires starts acting in a manner that is unacceptable. Would you give him a black eye? Even though you may want to, you couldn't. I realize that wrestling has several traditions, and Regal and Tajiri were carrying out one of them. The potential problem with these old-school antics, is that we live in a different world now. This Romeo kid could probably get a decent lawsuit claiming intentful assault and/or unsafe working conditions. Admittedly he'd kill off any chances of having a wrestling career by doing this, but he could really bring WWE through the mud if he had his heart set on it.

This reminds me of the time when Holly beat the s*** out of Dupree. Both Dupree and Roselli seem to be disliked among the locker room, and both seem to be a little cocky.

However, there's a difference between the Holly/Dupree incident and this one.

Although Dupree was being a bit of a dickhead in the locker room and he cost Bob Holly some cash as well as making him take two flights due to an incident, he still didn't deserve to have been taken advantage while wrestling with Holly. And it wasn't just being stiffed -- Holly attacked Rene with intent -- kicking and punhing him in his eye and throwing a steel chair at his head. That goes way beyond a simple stiffing and black eye caused by Regal or Tajiri (which may not have even happened, anyway).

I don't care what regal/tajiri did, it's part of the business. But we all know if holly was caught up in this, everyone would be calling for his firing.

I thought the difference was Holly likes beating on those less experienced than he on a regular basis...
And that if Regal really wanted to work stiff on a guy he's got the background to make the injuries a lot worse than a black eye.
Further, it's been mentioned a few times that WWE shares a unique spot along with pro sports in that they are a lot more violent than average day to day life. Comparing the two just doesn't work.
All that said, this is a very sketchy story to go on. Regal/Tajiri may or may not have worked stiff, and since there is no pattern of them doing so I say the Benefit of the Doubt should be extended till more is learned.

There is a difference between the Roselli one and the Dupree one, in my opinion.

Dupree only acted like a bit of an ass around the backstage and cost Holly some cash, whereas Roselli acted like a prick to the company he worked for as well as developing an ego only days into working on WWE television.

Roselli only suffered a black eye, and it is still unkown whether or not it was caused on purpose. Dupree had the living crap kicked out of him by Holly, and even the crowd marks knew it was a shoot attack.

And, let's face it - if either Tajiri or Regal were to attack someone full on, the victim would have been bleeding out of every orifice in his body. Holly's just a little b***h who didn't have the balls to fight Dupree man to man.
