So guys I was just watching some old wwf dvds and I dont think that rikishi was bad as a heel. What was it that everyone hated about him when he went bad?

I cant say I bought him as a heel, but then again I cant remember too much about that.I just remember that heel theme sucked.

I think the problem was that he was so goofy before the heel turn. I just don't think he was as credible as they made him out to be.

His reason for running over Austin was ridiculous . . . thats why I didn't like it . . . .
any one else who had blonde hair could have done it better . . .

The problem was that WWE did a swerve, just for the sake of having a swerve. It was probably Russo's writing, but I don't know for sure.
They spent months building towards finding out who hit Austin with a car. The answer turned out to be Rikishi, a guys who was incredibly over as a babyface, and that nobody wanted to boo. His reason for turning heel was subpar, and it seemed like they did it just to say "wow, we sure fooled you!"

The big problem was that he didn't change his act. He was more aggresive and a bad ass. But he still wore a thong and did moves using his butt.
If they would have given him a new look and he changed his finisher (from Banzai drop to Rikishi Driver) he would have been a more legit bad guy.
But now, he was just the old Rikishi with a sledgehammer.

BTW, I was always wondering why he stopped using the Rikishi Driver as a finisher. Was it too similar to a piledriver? (This didn't stop every video game for the next 5 years from having the Rikishi Driver as his finisher though)

His theme music, and past persona ruined for me. I misheard the lyrics, which led me to wonder why a fat-assed heel would waqsnt to use music, that has the lyrics: "I'm a faaat man!"

rikishi probably stopped doing the rikishi driver for safety reason since wwe went crazy with banning move. too bad cause the rikishi driver was a cool finisher.

huh, I figured you're about as safe as you could be with the Rikishi Driver. Your head couldn't hit the ground straight because Rikishi's gut got in the way, and he could get away with not lowering his opponent too low since his legs would hide the impact.
I liked the idea of Rikishi as a heel, but not for that reason. For The Rock? Please, he just had to say he ran over Austin because Austin was a threat to him and it'll be fine.

Yea and on his return who does he help out The Rock. The same guy he nailed w/ a sledgehammer from a speeding car and sat on alot of times till he bled internally. Nothing like family

Rikishi and Lita have one big thing in common; They both did devastating acts for people Rikishi: I did it...for The Rock Lita: I did it to protect Matt Hardy

Rikishi got completely destroyed by Austin at No Mercy and then took that huge fall during the Armageddon Hell in a Cell match that December. How can you legitimize his heel character if he always gets killed.

I remember during his turn he was found out by Mick Foley, aligned with Triple H, and he feuding with The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin. I can't remember another time when so much star power tried to get one single wrestler over.
At the time, I think he could have gotten over as a main event heel, and I often wonder why he didn't. Despite his size, he could take good bumps, and his Rikishi Driver, Superkick, and Samoan Drop all looked legitimately painful. His promos were so/so, but I thought he could've been a convincing contender.
