The last of the ECWCW Invasion PPV's.
Winner Takes All!
Gee, I wonder who won??
We open with WWF European Champion Christian beating Al Snow. This was Al Snow's first one on one pay-per-view match in quite sometime. The match was a good opener. It didn't feature any very special but was just a good solid wrestling match. Al Snow's snowplow on Christian looked pretty tight and and finish came after the Unprettier. 2 1/2 stars.
William Regal beat Tajiri. This match was quite unique because it had two wrestlers going one on one that had almost completely different styles. Early in the match Tajiri broke Regal's nose with one of his swift kicks to the face. After the match Regal continued to beat Tajiri and then when Torrie Wilson came out to help Tajiri, Regal grabbled her and gave her a double under hook powerbomb. I thought the finish to this match came out of nowhere with a lame powerbomb finish. 1 1/2 star.
WCW U.S Champion Edge beat WWF IC Champion Test to unify the titles (I'll explain later..) This was a good match from these two. Lots of great technical wrestling and pretty good brawls between the two as well. I liked the series of false finishes as the were done with perfection. This was probably the first really good match between these two superstars. 3 stars.
WCW Tag Champs Dudley Boys beat WWF Tag Champs Hardy Boys in a Steel Cage to unify the belts. This was yet another great match in the series of matches that these two teams have had. This was the first time these two teams had meet in a cage and it didn't disappoint. There were a few barbaric spots in this match. Bubba Ray smashing Matt Hardy into the cage, resulting in Matt busting his team into his lip and causes gashes. The big spot in this match was Jeff Hardy diving off the top of the steel cage and doing a Swanton bomb off top through a table. This made the pinfall for the Dudley a formality. 3 stars.
Test won a Battle Royal to retain his contract. Also in the match were: Albert, Bradshaw, Justin Credible, Tommy Dreamer, Spike Dudley, Farooq, Sho Funaki, Chavo Guerrero Jr., Billy Gunn, Crash Holly, Hurricane, Billy Kidman, Hugh Morrus, Diamond Dallas Page, Chuck Palumbo, Raven, Stevie Richards, Perry Saturn, Shawn Stasiak, Lance Storm, and Tazz. This was your typical Battle Royal. I don't really like Battle Royal's because it just seems like you keep seeing the same things over and over again. Test won the thing after eliminating Billy Gunn with his big boot. 1 star.
Trish beat Lita, Molly, Ivory, Jazz, Jacqueline in a 6 pack challenge to win Women's Title. Jazz looked really good in her television debut except for the bock spot where she got tangled up in the ropes. The wrestling was decent for a women's match but near the end Trish and Ivory kind of bocked the finish which didn't help. This was a huge surprise seeing Trish win as out of all the women she was the worst in the ring. 1 star.
Team WWF (Undertaker, The Rock, Chris Jericho, Big Show and Kane) beat Team WCW (Shane McMahon, Booker T, Rob Van Dam, Kurt Angle and Steve Austin). I thought this was a great match. The pre match prep talks by both Vince McMahon for the WWF and Shane & Stephanie McMahon for the Alliance were great. I loved the concept of this match as it was a great way to end the invasion angle. The elimination match made it fit right into the Survivor Series pay-per-view. I really like how the finish saw Kurt Angle interfering and costing the alliance jobs. Everybody thought it would have been Austin but they were wrong. 4 1/2 stars.
This is a classic event just for the sole reason that it was the last time we ever seen anything to do with the WCW or ECW on WWF programming. I also like the main event as it was great right from the beginning. The under card for this event was pretty good as well. If you don't have this tape it is definitely one you should add to your collection just for the fact that it featured the end of history in a way.
