I felt that the graphic "honouring" the late Chris Candido on RAW on Monday was poor. I mean, he doesn't even get an homage to OPEN the show? If the wrestlers backstage are such a big, tight-knit "family" as they all claim, you'd think there would be more mention of the man's in-ring and personal legacy. Are we too lazy to put together a 30-second video tribute package to kick-off the show? When Brian Pillman passed away in 1997, they had the wrestlers standing on the stage and the 10-bell salute. Same deal when Owen left us in 1999. THAT is bad-ass. Very moving, very poignant and makes for great TV. Since then, wrestlers who have died (the laundry list, unfortunately, is FAR too long) are lucky to get a video package. Most just get a weak 10-second still-graphic headstone. Bring back the 10-bell salute. No matter WHO it is. It's classy. The likes of Davey Boy Smith, Rick Rude, Curt Hennig and such deserve better. That's just my opinion.

Well, pillman & owen were employees at the time, so that's why they got the ten bell salute.
Would i mind if the wwe ten bell saluted every deceased wrestler?...no.
Do i think it's wrong they don't?...not really.
A graphic acknowledging a deceased wrestler is enough in my opinion. They have put together tribute pieces for hawk, perfect and others at different times. some on wwe shows or confidential.

Agreed, and all those guys for the most part were either with WWE at the time of their death or whose careers are closely linked to the WWE. Candido was neither one of these.........did think they should have done more for Bossman and can't remember if they did anything for the British Bulldog.

yeah, yeah Pillman and Owen where employees. when somebody from where I work passes and they left or retired years ago, we get an email. thats it. people are still whining here about Hercules Hernandez not even being mentioned. well Skip was because he was more recent and tragically young and had cleaned up his act so he gets the graphic.

i don't think WWE has ever done a clip for a deceased wrestler that wasn't currently in the company. you should be lucky WWE acknowledged it at all.

I was sure they didnt even mention hercules, and it ticked off the IWC a lot.

I didn't even know Hercules died! How long ago did that happen?

Nah, i can remember the outrage like it was yesterday. "how dare they show a casket right after they acknowledge the passing of hercules"......
It was pretty annoying. Like the wwe did it on purpose or something.

WCW used to do it for all wrestlers, WCW and WWF, with the ten bell salute. There wasn't varying degrees of it either. Bobby Duncum Jr, who I think was still with the company, got the same treatment as Owen, although that may have had something to do with Bret being on the roster.

When Crash Holly died, I don't recall them actually mentioning it... considering he spent a fair amount of time with the company it's the least they could've done, whether he was a whining little bastard or not...

I don't think louie spiccoli got one in wcw and he was in line for a big push, feuding w/larry zbyszko
All i remember is tony mentioning spiccoli and zbyszko saying something like...."with respect to his family, i won't say nothing" or some thing to that extent(correct me if i'm wrong)....
Zbyszko kept kayfabe all the way. I thought at the time that was a little immature.

I think it's sad that the 'Happy Birthday Rock' graphic seemed to get more air-time than the Candido tribute, and certainly had more effort put in to it (lol animated), and even acknowledged by JR and The King.

It seems to be some sort of amends for how they treated him but I may be reading to much into it. If they spent that much time on Candido you would unfortunately get alot of people at home and in the crowd asking "who the hell is that?".......
