2007. Benoit. Triple H Injury. Cena Injury. /thread Triple H's injury freshened up RAW imo, and gave us our first Wrestlemania without Trips shoe-horned in there, so I can't bury 2007 for that. It created actual intrigue for once. As for Cena's injury, it only came after putting in about 9 straight months of really good matches; so I can't fault 2007 for that either. Cena's 2007 was pretty great up until then. Benoit, well, I'll give you that. But 2007 had a lot of really great stuff. The rise of Orton. A great Rumble finish w/ Taker & HBK. HBK vs. Cena in the one hour broadway; Batista vs Taker delivering on all cylinders. The initial excitement of Jericho's comeback. Umaga coming into his own. Jeff Hardy catching fire. There was a lot of good stuff that wasn't a Great Khali title reign that I liked. Now 2003...blarggh. RAW was in total shambles between HHH's brutal title run against a slew of plodding lummoxes, and Austin as SHERIFF. SD had its moments, but for every Cena acsension and Lesnar vs. Kurt match, there was Bobn Holly's World title blundersnork, and the worst main event feud in WWE history: Vince McMahon vs. Super Steph, who wouldn't even tap out when being choked to death by a 260 pound man with a lead pipe. B.R.-UTAL as Edge & Christian used to say. 2003 was the only year I can remember where I stopped watching regularly, so that gets my vote.

I thought that the end of 2006 was pretty bad in my opinion. But I thought 2007 was okay at the beginning of the year at least for Smackdown but crappy for Raw. Then the draft raped Smackdown's roster and Benoit went nuts. I've been missing whole shows every now and then since then and sometimes only part of the show.

Enjoyability factor, easily 2006. The reformation of DX was a huge let down, Cena dominated the WWE title scene, Rey's title win was a big let down, ECW returning was a big let down. There were some enjoyable things though with One Night Stand 2(mostly RVD's title win) and Edge winning the WWE title twice. Injuries and the Benoit tragedy make 2007 slide past it though. The end of 2007 definitely picked up (from about Orton's title win onwards) but it was too late. Cena dominated the WWE title scene (this time in a much more unbeatable fashion), Lashley turned out to be a bust, Hornswoggle being Vince's son. 2008 was big breathe of fresh air and turned out to be imo one of the best years in a long time. I thought 2003 was pretty good. SmackDown! had high quality matchups pretty much all the time. Raw was a bit shoddy with HHH dominating the World title scene and Goldberg's lackluster title reign. My thoughts exactly.

2007, for the following reasons: - Wrestlemania was a huge letdown
- ECW brand
- Cena vs. Khali for the world title main eventing 2 PPV's
- Chris Benoit
- Deuce N' Domino being champions
- Bobby Lashley
- Series of injuries (HHH, Cena, Kennedy, Undertaker, Edge)
- Suspensions (Umaga, Morrison, Kennedy)
- Rosie Trump vs. Donald Trump
- The 8/1 edition of RAW (worse RAW I've ever seen)
- Ashley Massaro
- Batista vs. 'Taker in a HIAC being a huge disappointment
- RVD leaving
- Chris Jericho's underwhelming return
- Great Khali being world champion
- Morrison/Nitro beating Punk 3 straight PPV's in a row
- Triple H beating Umaga 3 straight PPV's in a row
- Judgment Day PPV
- No Way Out PPV
- The Diva Search
- Santino Marella being Intercontinental Champion/Face run
- Donald Trump/Vince McMahon feud
- Hardcore Holly, Test and Snitsky main eventing ECW
- Armando Estrada and Umaga being broken up for no reason
- Hornswoggle/Vince storyline
- Vince McMahon's ''illness'' followed by his ''death''
- Punk turning heel, only to turn face the very next week
- Orton not winning the title at SummerSlam
- The Great Khali vs. Hornswoggle on a major PPV and Finlay's face turn
- TWGTT returning, then jobbing weeks later
- Cryme Tyme winning a title shot, never getting it and then being released
- WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008 sucking monkey nuts
- The return of the Punjabi Prison Match
- London and Kendrick being jobbed on RAW
- Umaga's 3 week face turn
- Edge vs. Orton not happening at Wrestlemania
- The general lack of storyline build-up and disinterest of the midcard

2007 by far. Benoit was obviously the main reason followed by the injuries of HHH, HBK, Cena, Taker, Batista and Edge. Plus the ten suspensions at the same time. It was not a good year at all.

Why does everyone remember 2006 just for the "Summer of DX. What about the stuff that happened from January to June. There is a reason the ratings were in the 4s (for RAW) back then, the show was awesome. And SD was good then too, and continued to be really good the rest of the year, as opposed to RAW which kinda got meh after July, but still watchable.
I was gonna saw 2003, but atleast we had Smackdown. So I went with 2007. After 2006s RAW post WM shows I was expecting the same thing from 07, but god those were horrible. 2007 was also the year SD started to go downhill. And then of course theirs the whole Benoit thing...

I dunno... as far as quality of programming, either 06 or 03... O3 had some of the worst angles ever, but it was saved by a few truly classic matches. 06 was just... dull and uninteresting, completely.
But for the industry in general, undoubtedly 07, for obvious reasons.
Best years I'd say: 1. 2000 2. 2002 3. 2008 4. 2001 5. 2004

2003 for Triple H's Reign of Terror. Almost stop watching wrestling that year.

2004, Smackdown was absolutely terrible. RAW was blah pretty much the whole year. Almost all the PPV's that year were huge piles of suck.

2007. The Benoit tragedy really f***ed WWE over in more ways than one.

'04 should have had every vote. Man I still have nightmares of Benoit's title reign and Eugene taking over Raw main events
