This installment is one that is a big one right now. It has a loyal fan base, but it also has a bad stigma of "Rednecks" and "Hillbilly" fans. National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) What would you change to make the NASCAR better? Would you add cars to the track? Add more races? Remove some? Keep the Races on one network? Have the lower levels and Trucks get some National TV time? Expand the fan base? Past ones NFLNHLMLSIndy

I would make it so the drivers have to do something more than left turns.

Keep the races on FOX (or another broadcast net) and only on FOX. Stop the switching of nets, especially when the others suck.
If you run a full schedule in the Sprint Cup series, you cannot run more than 4 races in the Nationwide.
Let the drivers have a personality and don't undercut them. These are the guys you are trying to market and telling them how to act and what to say isn't helping.
That is really all I got right now.

Add dirt tracks to the schedule, bring back Rockingham, and remove Pocono from the schedule entirely.

No more Car of Tomorrow. I could barely make it through a NASCAR race as it was, but now we have nothing but single-file races at most tracks with people afraid to really race each other. Luckily I live within 15 miles of an awesome Saturday-night track, or my interest in racing might have dwindled even further.

I would like to see a road course in the 12 race "playoff". Also I would like to see Goodyear develop a road course rain tire for the hooptie of today, just because that rain race in Montreal a few years back was all sorts of awesome.

I would like to see a road course in the 12 race "playoff". Also I would like to see Goodyear develop a road course rain tire for the hooptie of today, just because that rain race in Montreal a few years back was all sorts of awesome. I agree that that rain race in Montreal was awesome, but I don't see it happening anytime soon in the Sprint Cup. But it's a good idea, nonetheless. Here's the main thing I would change: GET RID OF THE CHASE FOR THE CUP. It's stupid as hell. "Hey, let's award the guy who does the best in the last 10 races the championship instead of the guy who was consistently the best ALL SEASON." Also, I would change some places that would get races. California Speedway? You get one, deal with it. Darlington? One to two, and they get Labor Day Weekend, as that's the Southern 500. Rockingham? You get a race again. Screw Atlanta or Texas, they're basically the same track. We don't need 4 races at what is essientally the same track design. I do like the idea of more road course races as well, even though I'm not a big fan of them when it comes to NASCAR (Formula One on the other hand...) Also, I would change some of the names of the races. Allstate 400 at the Brickyard? Nuh-uh. Brickyard 400. Next thing you know they're gonna rename the Daytona 500 to the "Insert Sponser of the Race" 500 at Daytona. Yeah, I know, they're changing a lot of these things to move forward to the future, but let's keep SOME tradition in NASCAR. Also, make the tracks safer. That catch fence isn't gonna do squat for long at Talladega. They need something a little better. Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot one thing. Change that whole crap that the top 35 in points automatically get in, even though their car doesn't do crap in qualifying. In fact, get rid of it. That's the one thing NHRA has over NASCAR. You're no. 1 in points, but you don't qualify? Tough, you should've had it figured out earlier.

Were you guys watching the same Nationwide race at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve as I was last year? Their "rain tires" were a flippin' joke. Watching Jacques Villeneuve creep around the turn 11 hairpin at 19 miles an hour at the track named for his dad was not impressive. The Nationwide cars aren't built for flat hairpins like that to start, and adding "rain tires" only served to slow them down more since the cars aren't designed for rain running either. People bitch about IndyCar being a parade during road races, but my god, man! The race in Montreal was horrible once the track went past "slightly damp."

what I'd like to see...
keep the top 35 in points/qualifying setup
eliminate maybe 1-2 races from the schedule, we don't need 36 races plus 2 exhibition races. maybe something like 35 plus the All-Star race (dropping the Bud Shootout) eliminating a date from California would be the best answer
BRING BACK THE LABOR DAY SOUTHERN 500 TO DARLINGTON
less "cookie-cutter" 1.5-2.0 mile tracks, more Rockingham's/Darlington's or short tracks. or add Iowa Speedway to the schedule (yeah I'm from Iowa, so there)
oh and Ric, totally agree with your Busch/Nationwide series principle. It would be nice for a change to see a non-Cup regular win a Busch race
let drivers have a personality. instead of the boring old, smile for the cameras, mention the sponsors stuff that everyone does

This is coming from a very casual watcher, so keep that in mind.
I understand not wanting to cannibalize the interest in Nationwide, but there's got to be some limit put on Sprint Cup drivers. The point of the Nationwide series is to develop new drivers, so let the races be between new drivers. Let's say no more than 5 Nationwide races for Sprint Cup drivers.
