I've suggested it before...but I figure i might as well give it another try. How about changing the WWE forum so that it only includes stuff say from 2002 - Present. Not only would it reduce the amount of threads created in the WWE forum it would add some traffic to the (w)Rest section and even things out a little. This is a really good idea. The brand split started in 02 so the WWE's CURRENT product really has its roots there. This should also be relatively easy to do.

Is there a way of using an "ignore" feature for that topic only? That way, you control what you can and can't see on a topic-by-topic basis...or is the purpose of the button to essentially block one user from your view entirely? Is this even possible? Just spitballin'.
Speaking of things that may not be possible, I saw a spoiler tag on another site (I think it was IMDB, but don't quote me) that required you to mouse over the tagged section in order to read it. I think this would solve the spoiler issues that we've had, but again, I'm not even sure if it's possible with ProBoards.

Yeah, the spoiler tag thing is on IMDB. Also a good idea.

Well, I know ProBoards does have a spoiler tag, except you have to click on something to see what is written, instead of just rolling over it.

Count me among those aboard the "ignore button" bandwagon.
For me it's not about blocking out unfavorable opinions, but rather preventing tension that two posters may have with each other from turning into a flamefest that could spill all over a fun thread.
It's pretty annoying when a good topic steers into a bunch of petty crap between people.

OT board needs to be cut up into sections
As far as I'm concerned, something's not right when you see an NBA thread, a poll and a stupid joke topic adjacent to one another.
You could have a discussion board for news, rants, polls and whining, a general entertainment board (books, comics, movies, etc.) and maybe a spam board for the kiddies.
I'm pretty sure activity wouldn't be affected because these boards draw a lot of crowds and it's not like people are gonna stop posting because they have to limit themselves

It's just very cluttered. Some of the topics on page 1 right now include:
- emo pants - a Playstation thread - an NBA thread - someone graduated - the Tonight Show - 2 birthday threads - and several appreciation threads
There's no semblance of unity. It's a big free-for-all. Having a general entertainment catch-all section separate from a personal general discussion (i.e. I graduated, my gf broke up with me, the Post a Picture thread) would organize Off-Topic and for those who just want to post on entertainment stuff would have their space to do so, those who want to talk about their everyday lives would have their space to do so too.
I would even go so far to say have an entertainment section, then subsections for movies, music, games, TV, and books. It just makes sense to keep all movie talk with a movies section, all game talk with a games section.

To be honest, having seperate sections for each single thing would make me less inclined to post. I personally like that there are any different number of topics in off topic because it exposes me to stuff that I normally wouldn't even bother reading if it had to go into each different little section.
Plus you have to depend on posters to know where to post certain things. Some of them have trouble doing that now with the minimum forums we have. I really don't see that happening...not saying that to be some sort of buzzkill, just not seeing a problem with off topic right now.

I say the boards covering so much material is what causes that in the first place...along with some people's lack of desire to read. When you see a big huge board that says "off-topic", first thing that comes to mind is "well, I can post whatever I want here, then". If you had a little more specificity, you'd kill two birds with one stone.

My understanding is that the board isn't divided that much into too many sections because then people will want sub-sections for EVERYTHING. I can see the logic in that. Too many sub-boards will just be annoying to go through all of them. A entertainment/sports/general off-topic division is fine though.

I like the idea about merging threads that share topics.
I also agree that sometimes threads get locked when deleting a post would save the situation for the majority who were behaving.
Ignore button might be useful to some I suppose. Wasn`t actually aware that so many people disliked other posters on here so much.

and maybe.. maybe a section where you CAN talk about religion and politics, because I'll be honest there are some things i always wanted oto talk about but can't

It's literally a mix-bag. There's a huge variety, you can talk about a whole load of different stuff without having to have 3 or 4 sub forums open.
