As much as I loved this ripoff of Goldberg, anyone else think this should have been inducted by now?

no way! he was over. and effective. gillberg should never be inducted. Yes, but the main reason he was over was because it was making fun of the stupid way WCW brought Goldberg out, with the security team, the piped-in chants of Goldberg, and the corny fireworks.

As much as I agree he was great and just a cheap rip and obvious rip on Goldberg I do think he should be inducted. Especially when WCW done the same late 99 early 2000 (with JR) and that has already been inducted and there are others been inducted which were obvious rips on WWF talent.

The ripping on JR was offensive. Gillberg however was jus a parody of Goldberg. It served its purpose and was entertaining. This is another thread with the theory of INDUCT EVERYTHING!!!

If it should be inducted, it would be for these two reasons:
1.) He was parodying Goldberg's winning streak by compiling a losing streak. in fact, his catchphrase was, "Who's First?" So of course- because he got popular with the fans- WWF had him win like his 4th match, thereby negating the ENTIRE POINT!
and
2.) He completely trashed and devalued (even more so then it already was) the WWF Lightheavyweight Championship. It was just put on newcomer Christian, and really could have been something... and then nothing, and he was taken off TV for over a yea before he came back- claiming to have never lost the title- and lost it to Essa Rios.
Now, having written out that case for him to be inducted- I would say don't do it. I loved the gimmick, and thought he played it perfectly. I'll always have a soft-spot for Duane Gill.
Always.

Let us not forget some other aspects of Gillberg. He was part of the JOB squad with Scorpio and a pre-hardcore Bob Holly. He was repeatedly put over solid talent like Christian, Taka, and Brian Christopher. And I seem to recall a time where Triple H repeatedly called out Steve Austin (or just "the bald headed SOB) and Shane McMahon came out to declare "the bald headed SOB" was in the building and would face Triple H...and out came Gillberg. A swerve worthy of Russo, to be sure.

I'm just sorry that we never got Dwayne "Gillberg" Gill vs. Allan "The Funkster" Funk.
License to print money, that match is.

I never found him funny after his debut.
It got old pretty fast.

I never found him funny after his debut. It got old pretty fast. This. It would have been okay as a one time thing, but it wasn't. He became a full time character for awhile and it just wasn't funny after the first time. As well as the other reasons mentioned, like devaluing the Light Heavyweight belt, beating guys who weren't joke characters and actually had a future, etc. Plus if he was so over, why did he vanish taking the title with him? Over wrestlers dont suddenly disappear for no reason.

If I remember correctly, the WWE released a number of workers around that time. Gill Included. It was a mystery to us why they would release a champion, but keep in mind, this is the title that X-Pac didn't bring back.

Jobber of the week...yes, but never as an induction. It wasn't crap (a short-term parody) and most fans agreed.

I don't see a reason for Gillberg to be inducted he served his purpose, making fun of WCW last hottest star and I loved it
