I don't have a problem with Lance Storm, and I always read his Q&A's, but I just can't stand the way he talks sometimes. He tries to talk like he knows everything, and just comes across as a douche.

The thing people need to realize is that TNA doesn’t think they need turning around. They don’t want to hear criticism nor do they want help changing their product. Indeed, the above says it all.

also wasn't "fire russo" shouted during the Kurt Angle vs Joe cage match, right after the "we want wrestling" chant. That was the day I figured out wrestling fans r dumb

Not for nothing, but Dusty's period as head booker is arguably the single worst stretch of time in TNA history. I enjoyed phi delta slam How about when Dusty didn't use Alex Shelley because he didn't see anything good in him? Seriously, when Dusty had the book in TNA it was the most downright horrible stretch of all time there.

I get the feeling Lance thinks the only way the show could work is with nothing but shows full of 'unannounced' 20 minute-minimum 'athletic contests' treated as if it was a 100% real sport.

Who cares, Russo is a scapegoat. It's all because of Russo period Russo sucks. A lot. But I'm more than willing to pass the blame around the table. Hell, Jeff and Dixie already deserve plenty of blame just for entertaining the following thought "Hey, you know that guy who was on the creative end of WCW when it died? Yea, we should give him a job." You want to blame Mantell? Great! Pass that man a healthy helping of blame. Still, a simple "FIRE RUSSO!" chant is a good way for fans to let TNA know they don't like what they're seeing and want it changed right damn now. It's simple. It's effective. And even if Russo isn't the one responsible for what's on screen (after all, according to Dixie, he just hangs out backstage drinking coffee) he's more than earned a reputation for creating stupid s***. I take it you thought I was disagreeing. I was not, I merely expressed the same thoughts you did with one sentence For me, there is no excuse for TNA's actions lately. Their product is boring the hell out of me and if you check my post history, you will see I'm not an unreasonable guy.

I honestly don't think that's true. Lance clearly prefers more "pure" wrestling at times, but he's made it pretty clear over time that he has no problems with funnier stuff, as long as it's done well. Now, I've disagreed with him at times over how badly he thinks some comedy hurts a show all-around, but I don't think there's a single guy in the business who thinks nothing but storyline-less wrestling clinics would sell well after about six months. ROH initially thrived by presenting more "pure" wrestling, but they did it to make the company stand out, and then started quickly transitioning to storyline-driven matches that were complimented by good pure wrestling.

While I do think Lance occasionally hammers the comedy stuff more than is necessary, the truth is, if you want to get a performer over, they need a chance to do that, right?
We all look at, for instance, the MCMG's, and we know they have talent. They've got a lot of fans on here, to be sure. Yet, to some casual fan, what do they take from a three minute match where the announcers concentrate on other matters, scream a lot, and little is made of the team or performer's abilities in the ring?
When he said to give them ten or fifteen minutes to show what they could do, is that really such a bad idea when it comes to establishing a team as important and special? In the sense of the MCMG's, we've seen the swagger, we've seen the attitude, now give them the time to showcase the in-ring stuff. Don't throw them in to a three minute match with two random guys and then talk about the MEM the entire time.
Hell, that was always my biggest issue with WCW. I know, "TNA isn't WCW", but in many ways, they f***ing are. I rememer watching in 2000, seeing, IIRC, Rey and Juvi just blow the roof off. Fantastic stuff, back and forth, and the crowd was hot as hell for it. Yet, the entire time, all Tony talked about something that had nothing to do with the match at hand.
Rule one with the casual fans, and I've said it more times than I can remember, if you don't TELL them someone is important,t then reinforce it by letting them "show their wares", so to speak, they won't give a damn.

You've got the wrong feeling. The man was in favor of having a cup of "urine" tossed in his face during an ECW segment.

ROH initially thrived by presenting more "pure" wrestling, but they did it to make the company stand out, and then started quickly transitioning to storyline-driven matches that were complimented by good pure wrestling. Even then, the wrestling matches had lots of storyline elements as well in the background: The Prophecy, Daniels not shaking people's hands, guys like James Maritano wanting to be taken more seriously, Samoa Joe as hired muscle, Prince Nana, etc.

The question about the MCMG is ass kissing rubbish, MCMG want to be babyfaces, they just won't put the work in for it. Plus Sabin sucks on the mic and while Shelley can be good, he can't do it while being a face. His style is too self important.
