It was funny seeing her reactions.

I decided to show her some Mick Foley matches 'cause of all the blood and crazy hardcore stuff. She kept going "ooh" everytime he was hit with a chair etc. ;D And she said "this isn't real wrestling!"

So, then I decided to show her my favourite match ever (Bret Hart vs. Mr. Perfect KOTR 1993) which she really enjoyed. She said "now this is real wrestling." She didn't like Perfect 'cause he kept cheating. She kept saying "come on lad (Bret) give him one back!" ;D And then I think Bret yanked Perfect's hair and she said "aw, I don't like him anymore." ;D

The funniest thing, though, was that she said that she thought it was staged and they weren't really hurting each other and I said they were

Anyway, I just thought I'd share that.

My gran's great. I watched Royal Rumble 06 with her a couple of years back and she was appalled with Big Show hitting Rey (due to the height difference). She was thrilled when Rey struck back.

Your story made me think of one of my own. I know that the mods frown on the whole "self-censoring" thing, but the "four-letter was that begins with s" is pretty important to the story. First, the backstory:

In the '60's my grandmother (henceforth known as Nuna), was basically "in charge" of taking care of her father-in-law. At that point, he was in his early 80's and wheelchair bound. Like every Italian household in Western Pennsylvania, they were die-hard fans of Bruno Sammartino's Studio Wrestling program. "You know that's bully-s***," my dad and Nuna would tell Nano Joe. According to them, he'd always reply the same way: "That's not a-bully-s***! That's real!"

Fast forward to 2006. Due to a string of bad luck (triple bypass, kidney cancer, and light elderly dementia, all at the same time), Nuna was living with us. Due to her condition, she would spend most of her days on the couch watching GSN. One Friday, I decided to "switch things up," shall we say. Instead of putting on GSN, I put in the VHS copy of the "Great American Bash '89" that my girlfriend and I found in Erie the week before. She slept through most of it, but was wide awake for the Ric Flair/Terry Funk main event. As the match began, I noticed she bothered by something. "How can he do that," she asked.

"It's all bully-s***, like Bruno," I replied.

"No, that's not what I mean. How can that blond guy wrestle with that wig on?" I bust out laughing.

"No Nuna, that's his real hair."

"Bull****." I'm really laughing at this point.

"Nope. I'm being serious. That is actually Ric Flair's hair." At that point, my mom walked in the door from work.

"Hey Suzie," Nuna said as Terry Funk started pounding on Flair. "That blond guy... he's wearing a wig, right?" As far as my mom is concerned, wrestling was the WWF/E from 2000 to 2003. She had no clue of anything else.

"Yeah... I guess."

"Told you," Nuna said smiling. Throughout the rest of the match, she actively booed Ric Flair, all the while cheering for the heel Terry Funk. Every now and again, she'd start yelling "Knock his wig off! Knock his wig off," hoping that Funk would get the message literally beat Flair bald. Afterward, she just looked at me and said: "I liked that. That was fun. He was still wearing a wig though." I started chuckling as I got up to take her to the bathroom. "'He's not wearing a wig...' Bull**** he's not wearing a wig. I know what a wig looks like," she mumbled as she got up.

I used to love watching wrestling with my great-uncle Augi who was in his eighties at the time. Every Saturday we would watch Superstars and then in the last years of his life we would watch Smackdown on Thursday night. His favorites were the Godwinns, and he hated Rikishi. Augi would always tell me that "if that son of a gun stuck his big ol' butt in my face, I'd get up and whoop his ass!" lol! There's nothing funner than wathcing wrestling with a grandparent and watching their reality be suspended for an hour or so too. Watching wrestling with Augi were some of my favorite childhood memories.

My grandmother got me started on wrestling. I was pretty young then and I don't remember much except for that one time she told me that the Road Warriors ate children. It totally made me like them more!

A little bit of background, my uncle's mentally handicapped. Back in the 80s and 90s, he loved wrestling, and still enjoys it if it's put on today. My grampa, whenever it's brought up today, will say something along the lines of "ach it was a load of pish, a load of big play actors. I liked the cage matches though."

That's like that episode of "That 70's Show" where Eric and co. bring Red to the wrestling show and he's all, "It's fake, anybody can do that" and then, about five minutes in, he's telling Rocky Johnson to kill those damn midgets!

When I was in sitxth grade I was watching wrestling at my granddad's house while he was working on a jigsaw puzzle. I didn't think he was paying attention until I hear his voice coming from the kitchen.

My grandmother (R.I.P) used to watch wrestling back in the younger days of Killer Kowalski, Buddy Rogers and Lou Thesz and she was into it big time and then my dad became a fan and then i became one too.

I'm a third-generation fan !1!/!@!!

Anyway, my grandmother didn't care much for modern wrestling as she thought it became too cartoonish.

I used to watch WWE PPV's at my friend's grandparents house. This was around the time when Teddy Long was a referee. I remember that because my friend's Grandfather was an old-school racist and dropped the N-bomb whenever Long missed a three count.

I watch it with my grandma sometimes. She cringes at every single move, even if it is something like a headlock or a punch. I wouldn't even think about showing her a hardcore match, she would probably have a heart attack. She really liked Hogan vs. Warrior from WM 6 when I showed it to her.

I remember watching some of an episode of Smackdown with my Grandad a few years back. There was a Rey vs Eddie match on and he was really getting into it, shouting at the TV "Get him! Get him!" etc. He didn't like all the backstage segments though, said there was too much talking and not enough wrestling action. I agreed!
