This afternoon i watched the self destruction of the ultimate warrior. What was the point in him? He couldnt wrestle he fought like a boy would in a school playground. The guy began egotistic thinking he was better than the rest i think.
The only thing though i did like about him was the fact that his face paint and outfit matched.
So my question is what did he do for the company(apart from money)?

The same as any other wrestler. He worked for the company.

People can bash The Warrior all they want but the fact is he put asses in seats. He was getting pops as loud as Hogan was at one time and thats why they put the title on him. His attitude and personality suck but the he was hugely over at the time. It was a different time period when people were into big muscles and over the top characters like Warrior and Hogan. And like him or not anyone that can honestly say Goldberg was better than Warrior either doesnt understand his character or didn't grow up in that time period. So what if he only did a hand full of moves he was entertaining when put with the right guys and the promos were just a part of his character. A lot of them actually make sense to me.

Money. Tons of it.
Don't let yourself get fooled by the hatchet job they do in the SDotUW DVD. And ignore the questionable ideas of Jim Hellwig/Warrior Warrior, that have nothing to do with his in-ring accomplishments.
Ultimate Warrior was never supposed to be a technical wrestler, nor a good wrestler. He was all about Entertainment and charisma. And he was great at that.
Listen to the crowds cheering for him, see him sprinting down the aisle etc... he was arguably THE most over Superstar in 1989-1990.
There's a reason if he was the one chosen to pin Hulk f'n Hogan, cleanly, at WrestleMania. The most iconic moment during the highest point of the 80s boom this side of Hulk Hogan himself slamming Andre. And Warrior pinning Hogan in the middle of the ring was the moment that was supposed to close the circle started at the Silverdome.
Sadly, WWF had a great build-up for the title chase and win, but they "forgot" to think about a good run as Champion, so it all went downhill from that.
But Warrior's contribution is, in terms of popularity/exposure etc, undeniable, and definitely Top 5 material in the Rock'n'Wrestling timeframe.

What Loki said.
We give him a lot of crap these days, but the fact is, he drew. He may not have been even remotely technical, but he filled the character of the guy that came from out of nowhere that lived for combat perfectly. His promos were utter gibberish most of the time, but they were intense, and they sold his character well. Face it, a guy that finds joy in the heat of battle is going to be more than a little unhinged, but he'll always be a face because he'll always fight fair. His WWE DVD is a hatchet job, plain and simple. Obviously Vince feels that Warrior got the better of him by coming in, making his money, and leaving on his own terms.

The DVD is a hatchet job, for sure. But it's still funny.
I liked Warrior back in the day. Not as much as Hogan. I didn't want him to win at Wrestlemania 6. But I still liked him. It wasn't until his return in the mid-90's and his WCW time that I really couldn't stand to see or hear him anymore. The landscape had changed and he didn't fit in anymore. It was just so much more interesting to hear guys like Austin and even Hollywood Hogan strike a more realistic tone with their promos and personas. But for the short window of time that he was a success, he fit the mold perfectly.

You're forming your opinion of the Warrior based on his DVD?
Then you don't really know what you're talking about, then, do ya.

Why Warrior got over to that degree is a mystery to all.
Scientists could spend decades studying that phenomena.

He was used really well and to his credit he played the part well. He became really popular and sold merchandise. Revisionist history says he didn't draw as champ, but truthfully he was a pretty big draw in the 90s. He generated a lot of interest and fans always wanted to know where he was and when he was coming back during the spells that he was gone from WWE. He improved enough in the ring to be able to work big money matches and knew how to get heat. He was hugely popular.

that dvd is a hatchet job if there ever was one. If you ever wanted to know just how full of s*** the WWE docs are or can be, watch this one. It doesn't help matters that the Warrior and WWE don't get along.
Why is Warrior big? He drew crowds and people loved him. Same thing with Goldberg and the Road Warriors, they won often, won big had big moves and had big squashes. You don't need workrate to get over. Hall and Nash in a shoot even once praised Warrior saying "The guy got over running to the ring and throwing clotheslines"

Yea, let's get our entire opinion of a guy based on a DVD called "The Self-Destruction of..." him. You obviously didn't follow wrestling during Warrior's heyday, or you would not ask what he brought to wrestling. For a brief point in time, he was probably the most popular wrestler in WWF. I only wish Vince had not had him drop the title to Slaughter shortly after Mania 6.

A successful character like Warrior only comes along once. You saw WCW tried to duplicate it and it failed.

As a person Jim Helwig is an idiot and a conservative hack. He is also a horrible professional wrestler in the technical sense. But as a performer he showed tons of charisma and pulled off a really good gimmick at the right place and at the right time.

I only wish Vince had not had him drop the title to Slaughter shortly after Mania 6. Huh? 9 months later is "shortly after"? Compared to Hogan's 4 year run, maybe, but otherwise, I'd have to disagree.

Warrior made Vince alot of Money, The whole Hogan phase was on the way out and they needed a new face to carry the company even though it was for a couple of years Warrior was the fastest star to the top imo. When he beat Rude it was so Over with the crowds they wanted MOAR!!!
And The WM6 Finish was brilliant Hogan kicked out at 3.
