Seriously, somebody with photoshop needs to make this. Samoa Joe was ROH champion for 645 days. This past weekend, Nigel defended the title to ensure he will surpass Dragon's reign. I believe Nigel has to make it to July to beat Joe's record.

he has to hold the belt to July 14 to tie Joe's reign. i don't think he'll do it.

Can't we not have these dull long title reigns? Seriously. Nigel's title reign has been tiring and the same people who defend his reign bash Cena's nearly year long run.

They bashed Cena's back in the day because the main criticism was that Cena was basically fighting the same feud/storyline every time, i.e. "overcoming the odds" and whatnot.
I haven't seen enough of Nigel's reign to comment, but I loved Joe's and Dragon's reigns.

Cena title reign involved him being on TV 5 or more times a month (and these shows are easily seen) and about 10 more house shows. ROH does 4 shows a month at most and most fans don't see all the shows. So, Cena burnout would be a lot quicker than Nigel burn out, so I don't think it's fair to say that the same people complain when you're comparing two different things.

So, Cena burnout would be a lot quicker than Nigel burn out, so I don't think it's fair to say that the same people complain when you're comparing two different things. people say will say its a burnout when it really not. the small vocal minority on the internet just always thinks the champion sucks and there should be a new one. despite four and a half years of chasing the belt, as soon as Homicide won the title, fans on the internet were calling for him to drop it (even before his first opponent was named). as soon as he did drop it to Morishima, people were calling for Morishima to drop the belt. and after eight months of "Morishima sucks. Why does he have the belt?", as soon as he lost it (and people began calling for Nigel to lose the belt) it was all "Man, Morishima is a great wrestler. I wish they kept the belt on him longer". mark my words, less than two weeks after whoever defeats Nigel McGuinness to the ROH World Championship, people on the internet will be calling for that person to drop it.

Can't we not have these dull long title reigns? This. I love a long reign, just not one like Cena's original in 05-06 or Nigel's now. Ones that just seem to drag on and on like a broken record with the same things over and over and OVER.

I wouldn't have a problem with Nigel if he was you know interesting, but a lot of the times in ROH the champ wasn't booked to be interesting at the end of his reign instead of during it.
THat's my problem with reigns in general, the belt is secondary now to the man holding it. If the champ isn't interesting his title reign feels lackluster
It's like they ran with every storyline they could with him.
I really hope Pearce changes the booking style of ROH soon.

As long as he doesn't drop the belt to Aries, Nigel can go on having great matches every time. At this point everybody and their mother wants Tyler Black to win the belt.

The problem with Nigel's reign is almost what happened with Dragon's in that they blew their load to quickly on title matches. He's already faced everybody so many times (and beat them) that it feels kind of pointless now. That's the main problem with Nigel's reign, not the length of it.
Dragon got the saving grace (ironically) of his shoulder injury so that limited how many times per month he defended the belt (just once) so that each title defense then felt like something. Plus with Dragon there was never a match where you felt like the title WASN'T in jeopardy (except when they started the countdown to Homicide), which you can't say about Nigel.

Nigel is having GREAT match after GREAT match... why end his reign now? I love these boards and the ROH boards... but seriously, you could hand out $20 bills and people would complain that they don't need a handout... The same people calling for Nigel's head are the same people who would complain about the title being hotshotted. This is coming from a non-Nigel fan too... his reign is great. His heat is still whitehot... they still have a few storylines they can use (I admit they are dropping the ball on sure fire feuds... but changes in booking are the reason)... and they need to build up the Dragon's chase a bit better... they've built it up great on Nigel's end.. .but not Dragon's.
Great matches + continued heat = keep the title where it's at.

I'm not complaining of hotshotting, i'm just not all that into Nigel.
Give Hero the belt, and protect himself with SnS then

Give Hero the belt, and protect himself with SnS then except Hero is so dull and boring and bland right now as That Young Knock Out Kid that someone actually started a petition on the ROH board to have the bookers end it

Were you watching the same shows as me? Danielson had so many title matches with guys that came in just for the title match or you just knew wouldn't win the title because TNA/Japan/other place came first. Romero, Dutt, Storm, Sabin and Styles all come to mind.
