Just some musings of mine, that will perhaps come true, or perhaps will not come true. Either way, good way to kill time.
- First things first; Tyler Black spends the first half of the year getting revenge on Austin Aries and Jimmy Jacobs. Aries, with his recently won number one contendership spot, edges the belt off of Nigel, and holds it until a final grudge match with Tyler, whom promptly wins the belt and becomes the greatest indy wrestler of all time until we all find someone else to latch onto.
Speaking of Tyler, I fully expect WWE to start showing interest in Black. Nothing further will happen with that until next year.
- Leonard F. Chikarason, fed up with Vin Gerard's and Jimmy Olsen's chicanery over the Young Lion's Cup, abolishes the cup altogether, and creates a new title, el Campeonato de Campeonatos. This will be decided in place of Young Lion's Cup weekend, in a huge three night tournament, featuring CHIKARA's finest, as well as the elite on the indies. Hallowicked establishes his spot as CHIKARA's finest student by becoming the first Campeone de Campeones.
I've predicted this for years now, and it has still yet to come true.
- Sami Callihan will continue to make a splash on the indy scene, taking part in many of the big indy events (TPI, BOLA, if my above doesn't come true, Young Lion's Cup), and will have a nice run as either IWA: MS Jr. Heavyweight Champion, or CZW Jr. Heavyweight Champion.
I make this prediction because everything about Sami Callihan is cool. Everything.
- Sara Del Rey becomes the next contract that Sweeney sells off, only this time to...whoever handles this junk in TNA. Sara becomes a prominent part of the Knockouts league, furthering herself as a joshi style heel, or otherwise having a huge feud with Awesome Kong.
Speaking of the Knockouts, Raisha Saeed will unveil herself (quite literally) and begin a nice DiBiase/Virgil type feud with Kong. How Raisha goes from veiled messenger to cheerleader is up to someone else to figure out.
- Bryan Danielson signs with WWE, and will start off as a whitebread, smiley, nice guy face. Eventually, he comes across someone he can't beat, and snaps, because we honestly need another Bob Backlund in our lives.
Oh, and to turn this prediction into a wishlist, the person he snaps on is Punk.
- Vin Gerard finally moves on from Jimmy Olsen to feud with Jigsaw. Vin's arguing point is to belittle Jig for settling back into his masked role, while Jig obviously chooses to defend CHIKARA's honor, as he has done in the past. Lucha de Aspuesta is to be expected.
- The Colony, what with having, oh, SEVEN points at the moment, finally get their just due and win the campeonatos. The trio will hold the belt under the Freebirds rule.
- Low Ki eventually defeats Chris Hero for the PWG title. Not much else to say there.
- Chuck Taylor, after his cooling period in 2008, makes 2009 his bitch by finally having wrestled everywhere via finally being booked for an ROH show. Having a new fanbase to cater to/mock, Chuck becomes prominent yet again.
And...thats kinda all I've got in the tank at the moment.
