If one is not enjoying the board, then by all means, it's probably time to step away.
What I don't understand is the public announcements of departure and taking something posted on the board to heart.
This should be a place to unwind and have some fun, if you're not, then it's time to go. But don't take it personal.

I think the only reason people make an announcement of their departure is so those of whom they talked to (which could be a vast majority) know what happened to them. I'd feel much better knowing that a poster I talked to is leaving, then the poster all of a sudden not posting anymore.

That's what PM's are for though.

That's what PM's are for though. I understand that. But, as I mentioned, the poster may have kept in content with a lot of posters. This way is much quicker and easier to do than PM a bunch of people.

If it's something like, "I'm sick, gonna be in the hospital for a while" or some other extreme circumstance, I kind of understand. However when it's, "You guys are mean!! I'm going home!" I don't get it.

I'll have no way of finding out if that poster is fine.

I don't get it. I understand, but I think it's also a kind of "Look, I think you guys have a problem, and I won't be the only one that leaves due to it" attempt at a wakeup call. It's not an approach I agree with, but I understand the mindset.

Recently it was brought to my attention that this guy I hate and I act a lot alike. We both sort of approach comedy in a Don Rickles kind of manor, the main difference is our delivery and intent.
I bring this up because delivery and intent are things that are hard to call online sometimes. Some people like that guy in question make snide remarks or smart ass remarks in an attempt to "get over" on people they can dish it out but they can't take it. Others like me make smart ass remarks or snide remarks to make everyone laugh and can give and take it.
Delivery and intent are way more important that whats said sometimes, people like Frank Gotch or Biafra often times come into a thread and say something that the OP doesn't want to hear but its an honest opinion and done with no ill will.
I guess that's the problem in my opinion not the opinions or comments but the ill will behind them.
I'd like to add that I like Rorschach, he's an articulate guy who tends to liven up discussion on tired subjects like HHH I've enjoyed most of his posts on WC.

Let's just say the last time you two had a conversation, things didn't go very well, which led to Rorschach's decision to take a break. Wha? I think that was stevieraymark, not me. At least he was the one involved in the one in Off Topic. Yeah, my bad, dude. Wait....bad....dude??!! "Are you a bad enough dude to save the president?" ;D

I've been guilty of this sort of thing before myself, so I'm not one to judge. That said though, if you truly think you need a break from the board right now, then by all means have at it. Unless the whole WC Forum Banocide scheme goes as planned, we'll still be here when you get back.

This should be a place to unwind and have some fun, if you're not, then it's time to go. But don't take it personal. Like many of this man's posts, I agree. When it gets too much around here, take off for awhile.. hell I do it every coupla months, though for me it's never cuz of being stressed or what have you, mine's always a combination of boredom or being busy or both.. whatever it is when I take a mini hiatus it's a b word, perhaps borscht.. ok maybe not borscht. So yup, usually once every few months, when this lil happy place starts gettin on my nerves, I go all happy trails as well, and then come back at my leisure, cuz let's face, you people want me on that wall.. you need me on that wall.. etc. I just never understood makin a thread bout it, esp. if you're only goin to come back. Which ain't meant as a slight to anyone that does, I just never got that.. I'm much more happy to just 'POOF' outta here for a coupla weeks, a month, what have ya, and then 'POOF' right on back whenver the hell I feel like it. But then, I'm quirky.

If you're stepping away, step away. Don't make a big production out of it, just do it. We've asked that this sort of thing stop unless it has a practical reason. Going into heart surgery? Sure. Getting called up to go to Iraq? Sure. Just not having a good day?
No.
A thousand times, No.
Rors - you're a good poster, but this is - what - the third...fourth time you've done this?
Look...things go a different direction than you like, just do it. Hell, I leave here for weeks or months at a time sometimes (hell, a whole year once).
This doesn't need to be a place where we're all fighting over "Hey, look at me!" status. I have to be honest, that kind of thing has always irked me. "Hi, I'm new!" "I'm leaving!" "What should my sig image be?" "I just ate a bowl of cereal."
If you need to step away, by all means do it. But the next time there's a big production made out of it, I guarantee it will be the last time.

Very sad to hear this.
I've left this place twice before.
Ror, you're a very intelligent poster who adds immensely to any thread in which you post.

Personally, I just stay away from WWE Current for most of the week and go in on Fridays and Saturdays where everyone is talking about how great Smackdown was. There's a generally positive vibe on those days. Try it sometime.
Sad to see you go though. It'll be a huge loss to the horror thread.
