(1973) "Backstory: The Omen" "The Beast Must Die" (1974) "Blood of Dracula" (1957) "Blood of the Vampire" (1958) "The Brain Eaters" (1958) "Bride of Chucky" (1998) "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1992) "Dracula" (1979) "Earth vs. the Spider" (1958) "End of Days" (1999) "Exorcist: The Beginning" (2004) "The Fly" (1958) "The Fly II" (1989) "Frankenstein Meets the Spacemonster" (1965) "The Frighteners" (1996) "Halloween" (1978) "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers" (1988) "Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers" (1989) "House on Haunted Hill" (1999) "The Innocents" (1961) "Jack the Ripper" (1959) "King Kong" (1976) "Movies That Shook the World: The Blair Witch Project" (2005) "Movies That Shook the World: The Exorcist" (2005) "Night of the Living Dead" (1968) "Piñata: Survival Island" (2002) "Psycho" (1998) "Puppetmaster" (1989) "Raising Cain" (1992) "Return of the Fly" (1959) "The Return of the Living Dead" (1985) "Return to House on Haunted Hill" (2007) "Sabretooth" (2002) "The She-Creature" (1956) "The Shining" (1980) "Thir13en Ghosts" (2001) "Wolf" (1994) "Young Frankenstein" (1974) Not a bad lineup, although we get all the usual AMC horror flicks that they show ad nauseum regardless of the time of year. It seems like that Pinata movie gets shown pretty much every week on Fear Friday. I'm just happy that I can finally get that epicly bad 1959 Jack the Ripper movie on tape. Loads of unintentional hilarity in that one, and love the 1888 investigator's 1950s-style Elvis hairdo.

Don't know if anyone has checked out The Haunted World of El Superbeasto yet... it's pretty good. I enjoyed it. It reminded me of Ren and Stimpy or Fritz the Cat. It's not a strict horror film, but given the RZ talk a couple pages back, thought it would be worthwhile talking about it here.

While I haven't been a fan of Zombie's work thus far, it certainly sounds interesting and I'll give it a shot one of these days. Also, I might be WAY out of the loop when it comes to this, but does AMC even have Fear Friday anymore or did they finally just scrap it? They're showing the Ghostbusters flicks tonight. Now, I'm a big fan of the movies, but unless they've gotten rid of their usual Friday night gimmick their definition of "horror" is getting incredibly lenient.

Then they really need to get off their ass and start putting some effort into their Friday night "horror" show. Like I said, I love me some Ghostbusters, and while there's parts in them that might have scared me as a child, they are most definitely NOT horror movies. And most weeks we get a mix of Halloween 4, Halloween 5, The Fury and Pinata: Survival Island.

I just found out that Canada's only horror channel, formerly known as Scream Television, has decided to rebrand itself as a suspense/supernatural specialty channel in an attempt to appeal more to a female demographic. Their website makes it pretty clear that they're moving away from slasher, zombie, and otherwise violent films in favor of garbage like Twilight. They refuse to even use the word "horror" anymore. Especially this close to Halloween, I'm absolutely crushed to find out that what was once my favorite channel has now sold out

It's too bad that 24/7 Horror Channel here in the US didn't go as plan as most people hope it would

AMC sucks anymore. And that saddens me.

Does TCM still have a kinda-sorta horrow show on Friday nights? I remember seeing an awesome flick on there a year or so ago called Blood on Satan's Claw...ordinarily I'm not too keen on gothic horror, but you can't go wrong with a hot blonde temptress plot. ;D

They were always good for movies you wouldn't normally see elsewhere on the dial. It's a shame that they're shifting their demographic, but then again, it's not a part of my cable bundle, so it's no real loss to me.

I remember them advertising a double-header of Enter The Dragon and Catwoman, which makes me wonder what kind of people want to see double-headers of awesome movies followed by crappy ones. Also, for a good few months, I would be flipping through the channels and without fail, Red Dawn would be on. Seriously, they played it about three times a day. Not so much anymore. Now they play the Death Wish movies out of order all the time.

Just a post note on a review TR did recently: I was reading the thread for the worst 100 movies from the past ten years and what my friends was number 2? Yes, the american remake of one missed call.

While they do air horror flicks on occasion, a lot of the times they play stuff like druggie/hippie culture movies, biker movies, and other forms of exploitation.

Recently watched the Prom Night remake (in name only) and...I didn't hate it.
I actually liked parts of it. A PG-13 Slasher movie would be hard to do since you can't fall back on the cliches of the R-Rated variety, so maybe I appreciated the effort into it. Sure, they rely on other cliches in some parts, but still had some decent work...only thing was the complete lack of blood where the bodies had been, but that's something for a long review (that I may or may not be working on...)
Not the best horror movie, nor the best movie titled "Prom Night" but I liked it for what it was.

Mystery Driver, that Prom Night is not a remake at all. If that's what you meant by name only that's true. They never intended it to be a remake. It's just a movie with the same title. Don't know if anyone has checked out The Haunted World of El Superbeasto yet... it's pretty good. I enjoyed it. It reminded me of Ren and Stimpy or Fritz the Cat. There "refrences" were also completely uninspired. Oh, and when you watch it TR, be prepared to see Michael Myers even further humilated. lol El Superbeasto didn't piss me off or leave me feeling disgusted like H2 did, but it just wasn't very good IMO. And I'm the kinda perv who normally like animated boobs.

That's what I figured when I watched it since the story was very different from the 80s version (which gives me much enjoyment to see Leslie Nielsen in a serious role. Always appreciate those early movies from him as much as the comedies). Still, I feel it comes in second in the "Movies named 'Prom Night' in the Horror Genre" category while still being able to 'slash' an hour in a half. Taken out of context and duly noted
