Roode/Peyton Banks/Ms. Brooks/Eric Young Angle(s) has this award locked up, IMHO.

My Finalists for the Gooker/Russo/Stomper Award: 1. "Sara Palin" 2. Suicide & TNA iMPACT! the videogame 3. Super Eric 4. Mongo McMichael as the referee in the Monster's Ball Match. 5. The Sonjay Dutt/Jay Lethal feud minus the great Ladder Match. Hard to pick a clear winner. I don't know, things like Palin, Mongo, etc. all seem like they will DEFINITELY be inductions someday, but I don't know if they would qualify as Gooker. However I think the Abyss/Mitchell saga has got to be a top contender. That storyline went on for MONTHS AND MONTHS. It absolutely KILLED Abyss who before that was beginning to be a top contender. Also I think there could just be a "Year of Kaz" Gooker. I mean, he went from Serotonin nobody, to getting many random-ass title shots on Impact (meaning no one thought he had a shot of winning), to having a REALLY drawn-out "retirement", to having about 2-3 months worth of vignettes and build for his debut (Glacier anyone?), to debuting as a VIDEO GAME CHARACTER who has a lame SUNSET FLIP as a finisher. And the worst part, while all of this was happening, not one person in TNA seemed to notice that NOBODY CARED! For that reason, I nominate Kaz for the TNA Gooker.

This might be the first year TNA fields more candidates than WWE does.
I mean, McMahon's Millions, and maybe a couple more, but I see Palin or Suicide winning.

I mean, at least WWE's Obama/Hillary match was topical, and they had Umaga break it up.
Palin only started AFTER the election, so it made absolutely no sense.

Palin, even though I know RD doesn't like using ongoing angles as Gookers, but that's definitely one. That's just intelligence-insulting.
The complete botching of TNA Impact: The Videogame and Suicide in general. It might've worked better if Suicide was a character around the time the game actually came out, but he debuted about two months too late after the game came out, became a critical and commercial failure, and its publisher/developer going the way of Acclaim.
Eric Young for the vast majority of the year. Even now, since his turn for the serious completely came out of nowhere with no explanation, although his character is actually tolerable to watch currently.
Those are the big three.

Awww man come on EY is over like crazy...in Orlando. He is almost homegrown TNA talent and I will admitt a guilty pleasure here and accept the abuse for saying so, I liked the Young/Rhoode feud. It just went on too long

Nothing is Gooker, cause TNA is so perfect, and you're all just h8rz. Seriously, I said since the beginning of 08 and I said that the whole Abyss angle would be the front runner for TNA. Palin and Suicide aren't really under consideration cause nothing's happened so far, and are only really nominated for the original impact it had. Eric & the elvis thing is also something I would consider. Still, I'm not sure Abyss will get the Gooker, mostly cause the winner of 2008 has to be Braden Walker. Seriously, I don't think even Million Dollar Mania would be a better induction than Braden f'n Walker, the joke of the wrestling industry.

I don't know if I'd call Braden Walker Gooker-worthy. I didn't think he was completely, laughably horrible in the... three weeks he was in the WWE. It was probably the shortest and most entirely unremarkable run for a guy in WWE history, but I don't know if a huge in-joke that all started with a hilarious video done by one of Wrestlecrap's own should really qualify.

Loads of hype and disappointment with the debut?

Plus, him still being around isn't exactly like the Gooker himself, who was just a one shot, really.

Ya know...now that Sinister mentions it...just about everything Abyss has been involved with almost deserves a Gooker nomination.

The Main Event Mafia for Gooker? REALLY? I'll go with just about anything involving Karen Angle, 'cause everything with her went nowhere. There was absolutely zero payoff to the alleged love triangle storyline with AJ and Karen's Angle was both overhyped and boring. And yeah, Sarah Palin usually results in huge ratings; but TNA is simply giving us a terrible imitator in very UNentertaining skits. Other than that, I didn't really start watching 'til later in the year. So I'm not sure what else sucked...

Abyss is really becoming TNA's version of Kane in that regard (great worker who gets put in some truly terrible storylines). He's been in some pretty crappy angles in 2007, and I think 2006, too.

Actually the Gooker made several appearances for the next month before being dropped. And apparently in October of 91 there may have been a mention of him appearing on an upcoming episode of Prime Time Wrestling but nothing else was mentioned afterwards. Not sure if it happened or what.
