EARLY WWE SUMMERSLAM BUYRATE ESTIMATES ARE WAY LOW by Mike Johnson @ 11:23 PM on 10/5/2009
The early Summerslam buyrate estimated by World Wrestling Entertainment according to the WWE Corporate website is 375,000-380,000. The date of the estimate was 8/31, just eight days after the PPV, so it's possible the number will go higher.
Summerslam 2008 drew 500,000 buys.
Thanks to Erik Ganzerli for his help.

You mean Orton/Cena XXVI and DX Remix 09 didn't draw a massive buyrate? Surely you jest.
I am disappointed TLC with Jeff didn't though.

Who was champion between Jeff and Punk at this show? I'm guessing Jeff, but I'm not completely sure.
Maybe they should have kept the belt off Jeff completely. People would probably be more willing to buy into the chase of the underdog face than the preaching heel.

I get what you guys are saying, it's just with Jeff always being as effing over as he is I'd have thought his insane fan base would have bought anything with him and a ladder immediately. Maybe it is true, there are no REAL draws in this company now.

Yep, the kids just love Cena! Good thing their parents have infinite money to spend on PPVs during the worst recession since the 1930s. Heckuva job Vince!

I hope buyrates continue to plummet into the toilet. Its the only way anything in WWE is going to change.

Its confirmation that you market your prime time programming to those with disposable income. Not to those with no income. Yeesh Vince.

Certain "unbiased" wrestling news reporters who mark out for UFC and claim MMA is wrestling probably had an orgasm when they heard about these numbers.

It was obviously CM Punk's fault, hence why he lost the title last night.

This is really bad news considering WWE were doing a lot to hype this years Summerslam in such a big way and it failed. I felt it would have been more with the return of DX and the main event,

No is Vince Mcmahons fault. DX has returnd many times which is boring now. Orton & Cena in the main event scene over and over and over. Jeff vs Punk without much support will not draw big and that shows this year.
