This feud is suppose to be epic but it is not. Cena/Edge was sort of epic but this is just a joke. I love how Cena hypes up every match he has with someone as the best ever. He did it with Lashley, HHH, Edge. This Ironman match is going to be craptastic. I rather eat vomit than to watch Orton stalk Cena and they try to make out with each other. We might see 85 variations of the CHIN-LOCK!!! too. Wow, I cannot wait for this exciting match! Orton can barely wrestle a 20 minute match, 60 minutes? This is not going to go well. Who thought up this match concept show be shot. I mean, the booking of the match. Fricking morons.

Would the Ironman match still be craptastic if Cena/Orton were fighting it out in Iron Man armor?

You can tell that for years Cena/Orton was the WWE's idea of some fantastic dream match, ever since they were both starting to make waves in the lower midcard.
Much like Triple H/Orton the idea that this is supposed to be epic has entrenched itself so deeply into the minds of everyone involved that regardless of how it comes across on TV, it will continued to be pushed as a clash for the ages until they finally give up on it.
(And I don't think they're done with Hunter/Orton yet either)

Would the Ironman match still be craptastic if Cena/Orton were fighting it out in Iron Man armor? For an hour? Probably. Though I could see Orton trying to remove Cena's helmet then do an armor-assisted punt.

Well Cena vs Edge is for my one of the greatest Feuds that WWE ever had and the greatest since HBK vs HHH, but you are right. Orton vs Cena is not worthy the hype. Why should anyone buy this PPV? Cena already beat Orton at Breaking Point! It doesn´t work that way that after the Babyface FINALLY won the Title, the feud continues. It does not work that way. It should have been like this:
Summerslam: Orton beats Cena(Okay he did that) Breaking Point: Orton beats Cena(He doesnt have to say I Quit, Use the mankind vs rock ending) Hell in a Cell: Orton wins again
NOW, NOW PEOPLE WOULD PAY MONEY TO SEE THE IRON MAN MATCH!
This is how you book and not a title change every month!
Look how they made it with the U.S Title. Its a big freakin deal when it changes hands, BECAUSE IT CHANGED 5x in the last 3 years!

He did it with Lashley, HHH, Edge. This Ironman match is going to be craptastic. I don't disagree that the feud itself is boring, but that's mainly because it's been done so many times in the past 2 years. And to be fair, hyping up the upcoming match is something everyone in the company should be doing. If you watched last night's promo, Randy was crapping all over a rematch during his speaking time, which doesn't really help build enthusiasm with the fans. Someone has to put PPVs over so fans will care enough to buy them. Back in the old school territory days you saw guys like Flair, Dusty, etc. talking up title matches like they were the greatest event in the entire universe, and it worked. Of course, many of the guys from that era were arguably better talkers, and titles changed hands a lot less frequently, so title matches were more meaningful. You can tell that for years Cena/Orton was the WWE's idea of some fantastic dream match, ever since they were both starting to make waves in the lower midcard. Yes, it was, because back in 04/05, these two men WERE the future. In all seriousness. The company wanted them to be the next Rock & Austin (or Austin & Rock). Regardless of whether they ended up getting quite that far, this is the future we ended up with. Both men are credible main eventers, both men have their strong suits, and both are still quite young and will be able to carry the company for some time.

Or you could just, like, avoid the threads. It isn't that hard. I avoid praise threads for wrestlers I dont care for. Kinda like how I change the channel or simply dont watch if I am not being entertained. Its pretty easy to do. Its not as if someone coming in here and saying yawn is going to change peoples opinions or delete the thread. If anything it just bumps it up to the top and keeps it going.

I knew it, jedi mind tricks do work! I made you come in this thread at your own free will and I made you shake your head. I am pure Frankenstein genius. Did I say I hated this feud? I said it is not epic. It is overhyped. They are force feeding us the feud, like it is Rock/Austin, Hogan/Sting. Far from it.

One of my main problems with modern WWE is they try and TELL the audience that things are awesome, the best ever, epic, etc.
They rarely attempt to give the fans any actual REASONS. They lose sight of the fact that if you give the fans something special you dont even have to tell them its special. They just know.
Telling fans that something is the best didn't work in WCW, it doesn't work now. Make things interesting, dynamic and exciting and then people will find them as such.

Personally I think this is what happens when you have a group of writers as well as Stephanie McMahon herself who are NOT WRESTLING FANS and the Chairmen himself who's lost his mind completely.

I agree with what you are saying, but it is funny that people fondly recall Rock when he literally called himself the Great One, most Electrifying, etc. EVERY NIGHT.

True, but that started out as a heel thing, just like calling himself the Peoples Champ. It wasn't until later that it actually became true and then it didn't matter. Also, nobody said Cena shouldn't be hyping his matches, but of course someone is going to come in here and say thats what was being said or thats why people have a problem with it. At least when Cena was hyping his match with Edge and calling their rivalry one of the greatest, it had a lot more truth to it considering no other modern era WWE feud comes close.

To be fair though - that's like; your opinion man. I'm sure at least one of the thousands of people that cheered upon the Ironman announcement agreed with Cena. Maybe they just like their chemistry, maybe they enjoy the character clash, maybe they were mostly just fangirls/fanboys who like getting to see both men's abs. I'd certainly agree that Cena and Edge had a better feud both storyline and pacing wise, but I don't see what Cena done as "trying to convince" people; since they (the live crowd at least) seemed to more or less agree beforehand.

I know this feud could and should be bigger than it is, but the bookers are letting it run through a bunch of s***ty, gimmicky b-list PPVs when nobody's really paying attention, so that's on them.
Edit: Let's take it a step further...he last two pay per views were made up just this year. they had no legacy, no history, no nothing. All the Raws up to this point have focused on the guest hosts...so tell me just how good of a job they've been doing building this feud?

I think the Ironman could be interesting, just as long as it is more like Rock vs Triple H than Bret vs HBK. Ironman matches with only a single fall are boring as piss.
That, and no matter who wins, we win, since Orton can't get a rematch, or Cena would have to switch shows. Either way, it's the last Cena vs Orton for a while, so I imagine they'd go all out.
