If they do move Cena, ratings will hit the skids. Based on what logic? On a hunch? It has to be because it hasn't happened either time he's gotten injured and had to miss time. When he comes back, it sparks extra interest for a couple of weeks and the rating goes up, then it comes right back down to earth. When he leaves, they remain consistent within .1-.2 of what they were doing. I'm not even gonna make this long. All I want you to do is look up the ratings during Cena's last hiatus. Throughout that time, Raw NEVER broke 3.1. The last rating before John came back at Survivor Series was a 2.9. Two weeks later? 3.5. They haven't dropped below the 3s since then. Short version: No Cena = NO VIEWS~

I pointed this out not because I'm a huge Cena fan, but because he's integral to what ratings WWE does get nowadays. Moving him to Smackdown, a show with declining markets and viewership on a dead network, would be losing WWE's most valuable asset at the time they need him most (i.e. a season of MNF and TUF with high viewer interest levels). For better or worse, CENA is RAW now. He sells the merch, pushes whatever big storyline that gets what PPV buys they do, stars in ads for RAW, and consistently gets highlighted the most of any wrestler. Whether this is "predictable" or not is an argument for another thread, but getting rid of Cena and hotshotting Ted Jr. would be a ratings disaster.

That'd be retarded if they actually tried to hotshot somebody in Cena's place. They'd never make it. Now, I actually want Cena to go to SmackDown, just to see what they'd do with him over there. Last time he showed up on SD, the plebeians threw roses at his feet, so that's half the work done, right there...

I wouldn't mind it, but if it happens it will be the biggest shocker in WWE in a long while.
I would bet a copious amount of money against the chance that WWEs biggest star is going to suddenly be exclusive to a show that gets 1.8 ratings. On a channel that is failing.

The "Cena gets moved and Ted Jr. gets hotshotted in his place" thing was a worst-case scenario I developed. 1. Cena loses to Orton and goes to SD 2. RAW needs new wrestler to feud with Orton 3. They finally pull the trigger on Ted Jr. (much more logical choice for the hotshot than MVP or anyone else at this point) 4. Ted Jr. gets the closest thing to a "Lex Express" allowed in 2009. I didn't say it was a good idea, just based on the stubborness that WWE has shown in acting like Ted Jr. warrants an ME push over guys with longer runs.

Maybe Batista and Rey are going to keep tagging? That would make sense. I wouldn't mind seeing a Punk/Cena fued.

While I wouldn't bet the house on it, I don't think he'll go to SmackDown.
