As a crowd pleaser (meaning won’t make air) Kip James beat a jobber in a surprisingly OK match considering it is Kip James. The match was announced because a lot of the fans in the Impact Zone love Kip. Taken from the tapings this week, alas, its a damn shame he doesn't get matches on television, at least the fans in the Impact Zone appreciate him.

It's not like Kip's a terrible wrestler, why would it be surprising he had a decent match?

It's not like Kip's a terrible wrestler, why would it be surprising he had a decent match? Agreed. He is like X-Pac. Good, but often stuck in go-nowhere feuds or angles.

Hey, how can you fix the ring when it breaks if you don't test it once in a while?

I can't speak for his time in TNA, but... WWE tried over and over to push the guy. He won the King of the Ring tournament. He had a singles feud with the Rock. THE ROCK. And he STILL couldn't get over with the fans. Sooner or later, you have to consider it may not be the bookers' fault you're not over.

Interestingly, Kip has always been pretty over with the Impact Zone. Even going back to his early TNA days when he was called "The Outlaw", the crowd seemed to be behind him. I remember he did his full-nelson slam finisher to jobber Mikey Batts, and it actually looked really sick. Batts sold it well. Anyway the crowd started chanting "one more time", so he did it again and killed Batts again. I remember thinking that Kip hadn't been that over since Mr Ass.

Because the Impact Zone sucks.
They should bring in Bob Holly, I'm sure the fans would love a title run.

I would love it if he won the Legends title someday. Seriously.

I think this whole janitor thing they gave him is really going to help him get over, because he's going to get so much sympathy for it.

Hey, how can you fix the ring when it breaks if you don't test it once in a while? Wasn't there a match on Heat with the New Age Outlaws vs the Acolytes (or some other team), and the top ring rope actually broke? Then Billy Gunn (Kip James) took the top turnbuckle and started using it as a weapon. I think I saw this on WWE Confidential long ago when they did a Road Dogg (BG James) interview. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a YouTube video of this.

I think having there be less of him has been a good thing; like many Attitude Era guys, his face and image was probably getting old to people (he was on WWF TV for, what, over a decade nearly non-stop?), so take him away for awhile and suddenly he's freshened up a bit.
Doesn't mean he should be on regularly, as his time has passed, but that's just the principle of it.

I myself have become an even bigger fan of Groundskeeper Billy
Billy was Over in the outlaws, in the smoking gunns, billy and Chuck, even as the one. The guy was over with the fans up until his release.
He and Hardcore were both over. I liked their tag team, and hope TNA brings in bob to tag with Billy.
Just because he wasn't a main eventer doesn't mean he wasn't over.

The only time I didn't like him was when he won KOTR and WWE tried to push him into the main event, that was just ill advised.

If they actually brought him back with the jobber janitor gimmick for occasional matches I'd find him entertaining. Just PLEASE don't give him a huge push or a title reign at this point.

Have him be the Janitor that shows up outta nowhere to give sage like advice and pep talks to wrestlers that are down & out. Watch the ratings come in. Or just have him be the Jan It Tor to Sabin & Shelly's JD.
