I mean taking less pay and working for a guy you know doesnt like you he must have been in a bad situation to do that. Possibly it was to do with the clique. However Luger had been horrible mis managed in WWF for the past year and he knew his career was going no where their and he had a better chance going to WCW as another one of the WWFs top star who had jumped ship. The third big name at that time to do so (along with Hogan and Savage not including the other workers eg Heanan and Mean Gene). WCW at that time could add ultimate shock value to their first Nitro (big WWF star shows up) and Luger had a chance of a better run elsewhere as it really couldn;t get much worse. He had just been left of the even that was built around him two years previous (Summerslam). Also (as you said) his good friend Sting was there and with the backstage in WWF it couldn;t have been to friendly for any big star (or any other star really) who was not part of the clique. Even Bret was fueding again with Lawler at that time in the mid card. Everything would have looked better for Luger going to WCW and it did turn out a lot better even if he was working for someone who didn;'t particularly like him and his pay cut and that says a lot for the backstage chaos in WWF. Which did show in every part of their product at the time.

I recall during the New Blood storyline where Bischoff did a few worked shoots on various wrestlers, I believe it was this:
In it Bischoff says he made Luger a multi-millionaire when the WWF did not want anything left to do with him. That must mean there was more to the story of how he was managed before returning.

All this Luger was useless crap needs to stop. He was over and a believable main eventer, WWF dropped the ball with him.
I liked his run in 1995-'96 as the mega-tweener
I thought Luger and DDP would take down the nWo...and i marked for them. Now everybody hates them

Luger confused me as a child, why in the space of a couple of months am I supposed to now cheer this arrogant egomaniac who I'd grown to despise during '93? oh yeah because he worse some stars and stripes I was now supposed to love him with no logical reason. I was only 9 and didnt buy it for a second. Also apologies for going off topic but did Sid ever get his credibility back after this happened? I didn't watch WCW so I'm intrigued as to how they rescued him after making him look a weak chump in this video.

I think he was somewhat underrated. I remember eating up the Lex Express thing, even though didn't it didn't really make much sense. In the long run, I prefer him as a bad guy, though.
I'm glad he left when he did.

The Narcisisst was my favourite Luger incarnation. I thought he fit into that role really well and it's a shame that Vince had to have another blond hair, blue eyed, flag waving, all american patriot wet dream again and we didn't get a longer stint of him in that character.
Does anyone remember when RAW was being filmed in that small arena in New York? Luger would be doing the whole mirror thing as the narcisisst. Some of the the rowdy New Yorkers would proceed to say some really un-PG things and flip the bird right in Luger's face (as it was quite tightly packed) and then Vince would squirm and try to ignore it all by saying something like "These wwf fans in New York have not taken kindly to the narcisisst lex luger and are showing their displeasure in the way they traditionally do!". What's amazing about this was this was in early-mid 93.

There was an incident on the first Clash of the Champions of '96.
Eric Bischoff is interviewing Sting and Lex Luger. All of sudden, The Road Warriors come out (I think this was their big return), acting friendly, and challenging them for the titles.
Lex Luger: I hate to break up this little reunion, but we still got some matches with Harlem Heat, The Bluebloods, The Nasty Boys. We've even got State Patrol.
Eric Bischoff: State Patrol?
Me and my cousin still quote this.

Now everybody hates them WWE should be given some credit because they did all they could to try and get as much for Luger but it just did not work,. It did work, it's just they never gave him the title or any title for that matter. Luger as IC champ would have worked, Allied Powers beating Yoko/Owen would have worked. Luger should have beat Yoko at Summerslam then lost it back to him at Survivor Series, then They do the double elimination, Yoko gets beat by Luger at Wrestlemania, then Bret Beats Luger in the main event. then we get Luger/Hart, Hart/Hart, Yoko/Hart, Yoko/Luger/Hart, and maybe Lex/Bret vs. Owen/Yoko for '94-'95 which would have been awesome. You still have Bret lose to Backlund, then Backlund lose to Diesel, but now Diesel can feud with Bret, Owen, Yoko, Jarrett, HBK, Luger, Bam Bam, Undertaker, and Bulldog for his reign...man so much potential But anyways, I loved Luger as the tweener from his return up until the nWo where he became a full fledged face. He was still an egomaniac and well Sting/Luger is my favorite singles guys put in a tag team, tag team ever.
