WCW Fall Brawl '93
What a pointless angle. What was in the bag?
Kwan's "selling" is particularly hilarious.

See, realistically, this did make sense. Jack wanted revenge on Vader, but Harley Race did the classic heel manager thing of saying, "You can't have Vader, you can have Yoshi Kwan though. He'll tear you a part so Vader won't have to." So Jack goes through Kwan to finally get to Vader, building anticipation for that encounter all along the way.
Unfortunately, by this point, WCW didn't care about the Jack/Vader feud, put nothing into it, and therefore it just became a couple random matches to re-introduce Jack.

Having just watched through the PPVs of this era, I've got to say that the booking was very very strange.
They went to the trouble of building a feud for that long, introduced Yoshi Kwan, even had Jack and Vader TAG TOGETHER at Battlebowl, but then never gave Cactus the blow-off match.
Despite the fact that Schiavone still faithfully retold the history at Battlebowl twice.
Something tells me that it wasn't planned that way.

The ending to that match fell completely apart.

I fondly remember this "angle" after the whole Lost In Cleveland business (for which, anyway, I never seen Foley hanging out around town during that time).
But the most pointless thing is trying to buy Chris Champion as either Asian, or knowledgeable in ANY martial arts.
His stereotypical Asian music was boss though!

Are there any pics of Chris Champion before this gimmick? I only know him from his WCW stint.

The reason they kept it simmering into November was because they didn't want to tip their hand at all involving the upcoming Ric Flair match. Also, Jack was never meant to be in that position, neither was Flair. Sid was supposed to win the belt as a babyface at Starcade.

What a pointless angle. What was in the bag? A sack of particularly potent weed.

For some reason, I thought that had already happened -- got the events mixed up in my head, but then it is confusing cos it was such a long and complex angle.

Yoshi's Kwan's selling of Cactus Jack's offense is ludicrously entertaining. Not everyday you see such overselling of a BACK RAKE.
