I gotta disagree on some things. While wrestling is what makes a wrester a wrestler, character makes a wrestler a star. Wrestling has gone Hollywood, and wrestling skills isn't the complete importance anymore. Now, we have to have drama, action, comedy, and suspense in the form of storylines and promos. Most of the time, a wrestler gets to the top on his skill, but he stays there on his ability to be beyond a wrestler. If this wasn't true, then the main event would always have a revolving door of people and no one being a stand out. The problem isn't the whole "Wrestling is getting ignored". it's the filler isn't as entertaining. His point wasn't about technical wrestling, but rather, the failure of logically progressing storylines and also the failure of using booking formulas that are not too complex or predictable. Also, if their is one thing missing from a good portion of today's bookers and writers, it is thing (modified) quote from Mick Foley, describing the Rock 'N Sock Connection: "We gave the [majority of] the people what they wanted, without them even realizing that they wanted it in the first place."

I still think Angle/Joe was hot-shotted due to concerns about Angle's health. If you think Angle has only a few matches left in him, you can't do a slow build. you could do a slow build. no one says you have to have a match right out of the gate. everytime Joe was in a match, what ever it is for, angle jumps him. and because the ref saw it then Joe's opponent gets d'qed. so they can keep Joe's winning streak if they are still doing that. angle is in the announcer's booth talking about how pathetic Joe is. joe comes out and confronts him, joe and angle get into a fist fight. its broken up right away. after a while of this Joe confronts angle in the back, angle downplays it, and when joe goes to leave angle waffles Joe. so far this little nothing of a blurb could run three to 6 weeks depending upon how long they want this last, althewhile angle hasn't seen the inside of the ring. they can go from here, angle wrestles a pseudo squash match that doesn't tax him physically, gets on the mike, calls joe out, security comes out. eventually the pay off comes when they are in the ring together. say another 8 weeks. if the heel can keep it interesting they don't need to hotshot it. all that the Jarretts or whomever has overall control has to do is go to cornette, ask to watch tapes of crockett promotions, or midsouth, where Flair is in thecommentators booth during someone elses match and and then just have angle follow that. it is well over the seven year cycle. as long as they keep angle visible and a thorn in Joe's side, then they can easily push it out for months. this is what made the NWO so big for so long, people would pay huge amounts to see them finally get beat, but it didn't happen. when it did they were throwing babies in the air
