I completely understand that by the time Summerslam 1995 came around, as JR would say, this ladder match "wasn't their first rodeo," but I have always been partial to the Summerslam ladder match compared to their first encounter.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not taking away from the WMX ladder match in the least bit. Aside from Owen/Bret, it was the show stealer, and saved an otherwise lackluster Wrestlemania.
Then again, it may be the fact that Summerslam 1995 was so bad, Jim Duggan .vs. Shockmaster would have put on a stellar performance by comparison.
Opinions?

I've always preferred the SummerSlam ladder match, too. Maybe it's because by this time, Shawn had less of his mullet and wore those awesome dark blue tights.

I'm in favor of the original mainly due to the atmosphere & the hot NYC crowd for the match. Once HBK performed the baseball slide into Razor's gut using the ladder (an original move back in '94), the crowd was really into the match; creating a feeling like this match was the biggest match of all time. The spots were a little bit better performed and more original, too (for their time); driving the ladder down onto Razor, performing a splash from the ladder, not to mention a nice piledriver and superkick from HBK. Sure, at SummerSlam, HBK actually dived from the very top, but I got the feeling of "been-there, done-that" when I saw that back in '95.
A couple other things; Lawler's heel commentary was great during the entire match, and much better than Doc Hendrix at SS 95. I'm a huge fan of a clear heel and face broadcast team, and Lawler's pro-HBK comments were hilarious as opposed to Doc Hendrix trying to "ooohhh" and "aaaahhhh" his way through the match and his annoying, "c'mon Razor, c'mon Shawn, c'mon Razor, c'mon Shawn". A dull Pittsburgh crowd and a horrible broadcast team ruined the atmosphere.
Finally, at WM X, both Shawn's I-C title and Razor's I-C title were on the line, creating a feeling that this match was huge and there was alot at stake. At SS 95, only Shawn's I-C title was on the line, and you pretty much already knew the outcome because Shawn was being booked for I-C title defenses against Psycho Sid shortly afterward.
