From what my friends describe to me... I'll LIKE Paranormal Activity when I finally see it, but I won't be afraid of it at all. First I'm not really scared of ANY horror movies outside of being startled by loud noises. Second I don't believe in this kind of stuff what so ever, so it really isn't going to scare me. None the less, from what my friends say it still sounds good. not scared of any horror movies? not even the shining or the exorcist? I ask because those are the two horror movies that always seem to scare everyone. I love those movies to death, but I'm absolutly not scared of them. I can watch The Shining over and over and over though. Two things I don't get: Scared and Grossed out. I can watch the worst things, by myself, and go straight to sleep after words and I can watch the nastiest gorriest things and eat anything during it. Also, I'm strictly talking about now a days. Of course things scared me when I was little. I remember I got scared of Arachnaphobia because I was scared of spiders. That night I thought killer spiders were in my bed and slept on top of my covers. lol Now, I do get a sense of foreboding from some movies. I feel... on edge sometimes... intrigued I guess would be a close word to describe it, or maybe engrossed would be the word. It's not really fear I feel though. I guess it just stems from the fact that I find creepy stuff fascinating more so than scary.

I haven't seen Arachnophobia since 1992. There's a movie that I need to give another look. And it wasn't easy, but I got next thread's hall of fame inductions written. I was VERY unfamiliar with one of the inductees' acting career, so here's hoping that it doesn't suck too hard. There was a lot of reliance on Wikipedia for that induction, as well.

I just finished re-watching Takashi Shimizu's 2005 film Reincarnation (one of the original After Dark HorrorFest films), which I reviewed in some thread or another. The plot, as it is, centers around an actress named Nagisa (Yuka) who gets a role in a horror film about a real life mass murder rampage, and experiencing all sorts of visions about the real-life massacre. What's more, the film's director has decided to film the movie at the actual murder site, and as the Nagisa's visions intensify, she is lead to believe that she is the reincarnated soul of the murderer's daughter. It's a fantastic premise, but the execution...
The purpose of the revisit was just to see if the movie was QUITE as much of a chore to sit through as I remembered it being...and yes, it is. It hurts me to say it, because Shimizu is a guy that I hold in a really high regard (this is the creator of Ju-On, after all, which I'm a fan of to damn near psychotic levels, as well as Marebito, one of the most downright odd and disturbing films I've seen)...but this movie is just "meh" in every way that a film can be. In addition, when I bought this film I was stoked to see that Takako Fuji was in the film, but Shimizu's meal ticket is barely in the movie, playing a character that essentially any extra on the set could have played. Considering that we're talking about Kayako Saeki herself, it's quite a waste of talent. Dull, boring, and not scary in the slightest. * 1/2 out of ****.

Dunno if I ever asked you this or not...but didn't you meet Fuji at a Con or something before? If so, how was she? Does she have an interpreter, or does she speak English? I have this crazy vision of you going "Borat" on Fuji, throwing a burlap sack over her and running off with her slung over your shoulder, for some reason, LOL! ;D

Lucky bastard (just kidding, Erisi ). I don't THINK she'd need an interpreter, as her Wiki says that one of her specialties is speaking English (which I kept in mind in my little fan script re: the ending scenes), although I don't know that for sure. And as you said, it's a good thing it wasn't me at that con, or there would indeed be an international incident. ;D

Stood up late last night to watch SyFy and "S.S Doomtrooper". Oh.My.God. It was just bad. The uniforms were less WW2 and more Ghostbusters jumpsuits, pretty much none of the characters are real likeable, the "Doomtrooper" looked horrible, and it was just bad B-Grade Horror.

You have more courage than I, good sir, for watching a SyFy original picture. Seems like there's a small cult of fans who enjoy the campiness and awfulness of the films...but I'm not among them.

*sigh* One can hope. There's an instant purchase for me the day it becomes available here in the States. Good to hear that Shimizu hasn't retired. He was a movie machine from 2000-2006, and then just flat-out STOPPED making movies after The Grudge 2, if you don't count the Wii Ju-On game.

Final Rating: C- That poster gets an A+ for being an incredibly bad photoshop cover trying to copy a more popular movie nobody likes.

I did have a question that never got answered. If the movie is based on the monster Yongarry, then why not just call it Yongarry (like the original movie it's based off of)?

Yeah, you do have to give that cover one credit: It doesn't do the floating actor heads of doom that so many covers today do.

But...but...the main guy is played Corin Nemec! He played Parker Lewis in "Parker Lewis can't Lose" and in the movie he says, "Oh man, I can't win!" It's hilarious dialouge. ... That I can't shake. Ever. Darn you SyFy.

Hey y'all, sorry I've mostly dropped off the face of these threads, after pumping out so many reviews in October. Truthfully, after Halloween I haven't really been in a horror mood. The closest I've come lately is watching too comedies: the deadpan 50s horror/sci-fi spoof THE LOST SKELETON OF CADAVRA and the slapsticky fourth-wall-breaking RETURN OF THE KILLER TOMATOES. I love Killer Tomatoes, and I sort of like Lost Skeleton. Reading back through the first 5 threads, I've seen both films get some love from some guys around here.
Just thought I'd share a little. *shrug*
