Well at least the Patriots proved they could go into Indy and stay with the Colts, and even beat them if not for a handful of boneheaded mistakes, especially by the coach. Pats are probably winning the division and the best they can pray for is the #2 seed.
Sucks to give away a game that could have asily been won, but at least the Patriots appeared like contenders.

Well I guess we'll have the Archie Bowl in Feb lol Um...unless Eli gets cut and sent to another team, he's not getting to a Superbowl. Luckily no other team from the NFC East is going either.

Archie Bowl = Saints vs. Colts, I should've said it better.

It's insane. You're basically asking them to score and give them all the momentum when you hand them 30 yards to go! Why not punt and then ask them to go 80-90 yards when you've shown your defense is capable of getting interceptions? Huh, Bill, could you please show me your logic? You're assuming a 50-60 yard punt with no return. The Colts probably start that drive at around their own 35 with 2 minutes on the clock. That's more than enough time, and I think they would've gotten the TD regardless of where they were. It's a ballsy call no doubt about it. But I have no doubt in my mind that if it succeeds, no one calls Belichick an idiot. Everyone is praising him for a gutsy move and saying he's the best coach in the league.

Analysts are all on the 'punting it line'. I'll agree it wasn't as cut and dried as all that.

Stupidest call I've seen in a long time. You do not, under any circumstances, give PEYTON BLEEPING MANNING 30 yards and control of the clock to score a TD. Punt it and force a drive. If the ball's at the 50 or so, then go for it, but not at the 30. I don't think it was all that bad of a call. I mean, yeah, the result makes it look like total s***, but they had two yards to go. And they had about 500 yards of offense for the day. I think no matter where Manning starts that possession, he marches down field for the score. If they convert that 4th down, everyone calls Belichick a genius. It was a matter of inches that separates the two extremes. I think the worst decision was tackling Addai on that run at the 1-yard line. You gotta let him just score there and give yourself a minute with which to work. Instead, they keep putting up a fight at the goal line and get the ball back with 9 seconds left. The stupidest decision was using all 3 time outs before they were needed. But I really hope these two teams meet again in the playoffs, the Colts/Pats rivalry is probably the best I have ever seen. Great teams, evenly matched, amazing games, dramatic finishes, every time these two clubs play each other the viewer gets a classic.

To be fair, the Colts played like crap most of the game as well. They had lots of dropped passes and those two INTs were totally un-Manning like. Also, by not punting, you've basically made a vote of no-confidence with your defense. That's not the kind of thing you want to do. Now we'll see how the defense responds. Even Rodney Harrison said it was the worst mistake he's ever seen Belichick make.

Well I guess we'll have the Archie Bowl in Feb lol What makes you so certain that Eli will make it as well? The Giants are nowhere near the team they should be. They started out 5-0, and have gone 0-4 after that. If anything, the team to beat in the NFC is either the Saints or, God I can't believe I'm going to say this, the Vikings. Neither team plays each other in the regular season, so I'm going to say that the NFC Championship could be indoors. In either Minnesota or New Orleans. As for the AFC, well, that puppy's wide open. Not only do you have the Colts, but the Pats, the Steelers, the Broncos, the Chargers, and the Artists Formerly Known as the Bungles, the Bengals. Hell, Cincinnati is a tipped pass away from being 8-1. That's insane. Where the hell did this Bengal team come from and where are the real Cincinnati Bengals we've known for the past couple of years?

Analysts are all on the 'punting it line'. I'll agree it wasn't as cut and dried as all that. If they punt it and the Colts still score a TD, I wonder how many of them would've suggested that he should've gone for it. I just think it's too easy to jump on a coach based on the end result and after it's already happened.

I'd always punt in THAT situation, but that's just me. I admire Bill's stones to go for that though. His defense was gassed and Peyton was in the zone. Still, he'd also thrown a couple of floaters just two possessions before. You have to make him earn it.

Absolutely thrilling, especially as a Colts fan. Kinda dampered by the fact that we seem to play better with a few losses and reg season vs. the Pats doesn't exactly get me pumped...but that was awesome.

My theory...
Looking at the Patriots defense in the fourth quarter I would say Manning at his own 30 would have probably scored roughly 60% of the time.
From the Pats 30 they would score probably 80% of the time.
They get 2 yards on that play probably 75% of the time.
I just think the percentages were in his favor. He gambled and lost.

I just realized, I just barely won my fantasy game this week. I needed Reggie Wayne to get less than 27.4 points, and he got 24.6, which in itself is a ton for a wide receiver in fantasy.

The Patriots killed themselves something fierce. Sure, the Colts do what they always do, but the Patriots opened that door. Two turnovers in the endzone, squandering your time-outs, not making the 4th and 2, and not just giving up the inevitable TD. Sure, you hate to purposely give up a TD, but the Colts have actually done that to give Manning time to get the winning drive (which worked, if I recall correctly).

I just realized something. This was the first game of the season that Freeney did not get a sack.

You know what's a questionable decision? Throwing a pass right at the first down marker on that 4th & 2. I think you have to throw at least a couple yards beyond the marker to make sure you get enough yardage.

The thing that was kinda puzzling about not allowing the quick score is that they wouldn't have needed a TD to win it. You have a minute or so after an Addai score to get downfield for a field goal? I'd have liked those odds much better than thirteen seconds.

I just think it's too easy to jump on a coach based on the end result and after it's already happened. I don't think anyone would have said they should have gone for it. They all would've talked about how clutch Manning was and whatnot. Sure, the offense would have had a chance, but you cannot tell me that if they punted it that it was a given the Colts would get downfield and would score. I'm sorry, but in that situation against that offense, you punt the ball 100 times out of 100.
