Awesome. That dullard Deion Sanders is whining about the spot and the PI call and everything else he can whine about. Knowing the Colts won and it's pissing him off is just schaudenfreude of the greatest order.

You can't reasonably whine about the spot though, that was the right call.

I don't think anyone would have said they should have gone for it. They all would've talked about how clutch Manning was and whatnot. Sure, the offense would have had a chance, but you cannot tell me that if they punted it that it was a given the Colts would get downfield and would score. I'm sorry, but in that situation against that offense, you punt the ball 100 times out of 100. Maybe not a given, but I think the chances of converting a 4th & 2 are better than the chances of a completely gassed defense stopping a Peyton Manning-led offense with 2 minutes and ~65-70 yards to go. Teams convert on 4th & 2 roughly 80% of the time.

Why are the analysts still talking undefeated season for the Colts? Even when they have a shot at it, they don't go for it. Guarantee you that Peyton and the other stars only play the first quarter of the last 2 or 3 games. They do it every year.

Nah Deon gets cranky when he can't say insane things like 'Uh Uh, get down with your bad self, uh ah yea...uhhhhhh' about Randy Moss.

The spot was completely the right call. I forgot who the receiver was, but he juggled it on the way down. Had he held on, he was a good 1/2 yard over the marker. He eliminated his own forward progress and even on a review there was nothing to over turn that.
The PI call ... OK, that was a home town call IMO. STill, it's one play. What's to stop them from halting Manning for three straight after that? You can't hang your gripes on penalties and use them as excuses. There are times it's legit (like Week 2 with Chargers/Denver last year), but usually it's just one thing. Get past it and keep playing.

The one year they were 13-0 they played all their starters before the Chargers beat them. Then they rested once the undefeated season was done for.

Luckily no other team from the NFC East is going either. Don't think you'll get any argument from any of us there. Oh hey now... I still believe that Dallas can turn it around and make it there.

Manning must be the most feared QB in NFL history!
Against what other quarterback would a coach go for it on 4th and 2 with the lead fairly deep in their own territory ;D

True, but listening to all of the interviews told me that the team were actually happy to lose that game. They felt obligated to try, but they did not care. You have to want it. The Patriots wanted it a couple of seasons ago, but in hindsight one has to wonder how much the effort took out of them.

If they punt it and the Colts still score a TD, I wonder how many of them would've suggested that he should've gone for it. I just think it's too easy to jump on a coach based on the end result and after it's already happened. I couldn't disagree more. People focus on the negative of what would happen if you don't get it, and ignore the positive that can come if you make it. I really think the Pats get that first down 75% of the time. So, unless you think that the Colts chances of going 70 yards was less than 25% (its not) then going for it is the better percentage play.

Hell I consider myself the grand Cowboys poobah on here for the simple fact I've been here longer than my brethren; All that said, barring something miraculous, this team has showed what they are the last couple of years. Today quite indicative of that. If I'm wrong, I'll ( gleefully and giddily) eat my words, but as of right now- ain't gonna happen, and given the way they fold and fall back down to earth once they start playing well, they don't deserve it. So here's hoping, tempered with pragmatism.

It looked to me like Brady convinced Bellicheck to go for it.

Just heard a great comparison. The Patriots are The Colts of 5 years ago, a great offense that doesn't have the D/faith in D to win a championship.
Also since I didn't say it before I'll say it now, great game, but don't forget Maroney's fumble in the redzone & Brady's pick in the end zone. Those were pretty f***ing big.

I feel bad, ALMOST, for the unholy things the Patriots will do to the Jets as a result of this indignity.

I would not be surprised to see the Patriots run the 2 minute drill for the entire game to run up the score as bad as possible, since that would be the classless thing to do.

Analysts are all on the 'punting it line'. I'll agree it wasn't as cut and dried as all that. If they punt it and the Colts still score a TD, I wonder how many of them would've suggested that he should've gone for it. I just think it's too easy to jump on a coach based on the end result and after it's already happened. Nobody (who had a brain) would have. They would've been talking about how great Peyton Manning was to lead another long drive to win the game and how it adds to his growing legacy blah blah blah. Belchick brought all the criticism on himself with that stupid call.
