Just thinking about how popular Animation Domination and South Park are around here, so figured I'd start this thread. This thread asks when was the best time for animated sitcoms overall. For instance, one might argue that 1997 is the best year as though King of the Hill was still finding its voice, The Simpsons and South Park made up for it.
Also for those of you unfamiliar here are some of the animated sitcoms featured during the times listed:
1960-1966: The Flintstones
1962-1963: The Flintstones, The Jetsons
1989-Present: The Simpsons
1997-2009: The Simpsons, South Park, King of the Hill
1999-2002: The Simpsons, South Park, King of the Hill, Futurama, Family Guy
I would have to go with 1999. You have the entire first seasons of Futurama and Family Guy as well as parts of their second seasons, The Simpsons just before it started really going downhill and solid seasons of both South Park and King of the Hill.
I also think 1999 was before Fox really messed up its schedule (at least on the East Coast) and started to have to air the remainder of football games instead of their regularly scheduled animated programs.

Any year from 1993-1998.
That is the Golden Age of the Simpsons when just about every eisode was great. All animated comedies strive to match that period.

1999.
South Park, Family Guy, Futurama, Home Movies and Dr. Katz on the air. Awesome year.

Technically, isn't any animated comedy show with a basic plot an animated sitcom?

Technically, isn't any animated comedy show with a basic plot an animated sitcom? Eh, maybe in the denotative sense, but I guess I'm going with the connotative understanding of it. Sure, "Tom & Jerry Kids" could be considered a sitcom by some, but I'm thinking more along the lines of Simpsons, Family Guy, King of the Hill, etc.
