Paul McCartney - Every tour, he puts out a live concert DVD. What I never understood is, his setlists never change significantly to make a difference. Its not like say for Pink Floyd the difference between a Dark Side of the Moon-era concert, or a The Wall concert. And wow wow, Macca just put out ANOTHER concert DVD.
Star Wars - How many times so far as Lucas re-released Star Wars orgiinal trilogy on VHS and DVD? Those gracious nerds.
Evil Dead & Etc. at Anchor Bay - SW is nothing compared to the numerous re-eleases Anchor Bay has done with the Evil Dead film series over the years. Those very gracious nerds.

Star Wars - How many times so far as Lucas re-released Star Wars orgiinal trilogy on VHS and DVD? Those gracious nerds. "Original" meaning before the special editions (since even the vhs's had edits done)? I think 1994 had an original release, not sure when it was before then, and then it wasn't until ten years later or so you could buy the non-special editions on dvd, and they've only been released once. The Special editions have at least one vhs, and two dvd releases.

Those SE tapes had another vhs release around the time of Episode II. I know because thats when I realized the re-released nonsense in the first place.
I meant in general anyway. And notice that with the butt wiped video quality of the OT versions released on DVD, Lucas will inevitably re-release that all remastered and stuff.
Money!

Nintendo do a lot of ports (except Earthbound). The original SMB has been on the NES, SNES, Gameboy colour, GBA, Gamecube (Animal Crossing) and Wii.
Charging £20-£30 for Zelda 2 a few years ago was crazy.

The shameful thing is, I just picked up the Best Buy exclusive two CD/two DVD combo despite owning the other live albums. Paul's big stadium shows are all monotonous, while his smaller venue appearances are always varied and full of more energy. So of course we only get an EP of his Amoeba Records performance, while his Citi Field show gets a whopping four disc release.

Seth McFarlane. He made basically the same damn show twice after Family Guy. He changes the political views or the skin color of the characters and thinks it makes premise SO much different. "Its not the same"

Virtual Console, anyone?
yay lets pay $5-$15 for 10+ year old games I could probably get for a fraction of that on eBay, or, a ROM for free.
But I love Nintendo, so, if it makes them money, good for them.

As long as people buy them, the re-releases will keep coming. Noone forces you to get them, though, so what is there to complain about, really?

With smaller crowds, there is an intimacy and real connection. In football stadiums, its kinda lost between the act trying their best to get everyone involved, and paying "audience" busy between drinking, smoking, and other stuff. Not as much spark between artist and audience. There are exceptions to that rule. Like Queen. 50,000 or 50, no real difference to them.

Goddammit, Lucas. STOP RE-RELEASING YOUR MOVIES!!!! I know you'd love to buy your daughter that private island in French Polynesia but this is a ridiculous way to go about it.
Horror movies that were once heavily censored also get a few re-releases from Anchor Bay or Blue Underground with added special features each time.
And it'll be the same deal with movies on Blu-Ray too.
As much as I ADORE The Beatles, their CD's get re-mastered and re-released every 10 years or so.

But I love Nintendo, so, if it makes them money, good for them. I'm sure some NES games fall under it, I know quite a few Sega games on 360's does. I mean, $5 for Streets of Rage or Phantasy Star or Shining Force beats the going price online... as does Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. It started at $30 (I think it dropped to $20) and was a hell of a deal. Plus, with ebay you got outrageous shipping. Amazon's is $3.99 flat and you'd be lucky to get most carts for $5 given all of that. Plus, SNES games are almost always too expensive (then again, the system is arguably the greatest built "work horse" of a video game system of all time... minus, perhaps the Gameboy.)

How bout every dvd that comes out? It's gotten to the point when you buy a movie inside the case is an insert that more or less says "Sucker. There's a better version of the movie you just bought in a few months."
