The way to be a healthy vegetarian is the same way to be healthy in any other diet. Learn about what your body needs and watch what you eat. If it is not for the morales then you are not a vegetarian. You are a guy that does not eat meat because it is not healthy If he sticks with it, he is. A vegetarian is just a human who is an herbivore. It doesn't have to be a moral stance. Now, those people who claim to be vegetarians but still eat fish or chicken, they aren't vegetarians. Exactly. If you don't eat animals, you are a vegetarian, regardless of whether it's for morals or health or whatever. You're still a vegetarian.

I already eat healthy so it's not like i'm gonna eat candy, chips, etc. In fact, I hate that stuff.
It's all veggies, fruit, eggs, milk, and other similar healthy stuff for me. Tofu will be eaten in moderation but most of my diet will consist of egg white omelettes.

I though you were a robot? Cyborg, which means I still have organic part so I can cannabilze people AND robots! I think what they mean by eating healthy would be to balance the diet, get the proper vitamins and minerals, and not deep fry everything you eat. Vegitables can be just as unhealthy as any meat when prepared the wrong ways.

I don't think I could ever commit to a veggie-diet, but I'm certainly thinking its time for me to cut some percentage of meat out of my diet.
I already don't eat much steak/red meat (though I love ground beef), but I also should try opting more for fish (which I do love) and bean-based stuff.

You better be very very careful about doing this. Most vegetarians have no idea how to eat right and become very very sick. There really isn't very many benefits to doing it. I'll probably get flamed for saying that since it isn't "politically correct" but it's true. Some do, but if you do enough research and take vitamins and whatnot, it's not that hard. I've been a vegetarian for quite some time, and I've barely even gotten the flu or anything. One of my other friends has been a vegetarian since she was in like 2nd grade, and she doesn't get sick either. Yes, it's possible, but it's not as widespread or prevalent as you'd like to think. Well that is what I'm saying. If you know how to be a vegetarian than yeah it isn't bad. But most people I know who are vegetarian and have known do not replace the meat with anything else. They think they can just live off vegetables and fruits and that just isn't possible. Also getting sick doesn't have much to do with it and is not what I'm talking about. It's vitamin and protein deficiency that most vegetarians have a problem with. If you want to know what I'm talking about go live in San Fransisco for about a year and you can see all the skeletons walking around.

I just became a vegetarian before Thanksgiving Wait, what?! Aw crap, you let one of them bite you?! See, this is why I don't go outside at night when there's a full moon. If someone comes to the door at night I do not let them in.

You should really consult a nutritionist first before you change you dietary intake like that. Lots of proteins and whatnot that you still need. Most of the vegetarians and vegans that I've met (I work in San Francisco, btw) are some of the least healthy people in the world. They do it because its chic out here, but they have no clue how to maintain a proper diet. I guarantee you - grilled chicken breast, vegetables and brown rice will go a lot farther for good health than tofu & soy ever will. AND - watch out on your soy intake. There's a lot of estrogen in soy and prolonged usage may lead to increased levels of the hormone in your body.

Eh I don't think a food choice makes you either dumb or courageous. If that's what ya wanna do, good for ya. As others have mentioned, I don't really buy the whole moral implications for or against.
But then, I'm an omnivore.

Yeah, Poultry is healthy for you. The major problems in the western diet are 1. Too much red meat, 2. not enough whole grains and 3. too much corn surup. But, if you want to be a vegetarian on Thanksgiving, then frankly, that's your problem.

If you want a good Turkey substitute, Tofurkey is the standard choice, but the taste all depends on how you prepare it. There are also good alternates made from mushrooms instead of soy. They have a bit more of a bite to them, but yous sacrifice the Turkey-like taste.
I've been a vegetarian for eight years now, so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

If you are going to a family get-together, and you are the only vegetarin and forcing them to get a disgusting tofurkey, then yes, you are a horrible person. Otherwise, enjoy.
