I never eat red meat anyway, but I have eaten lots of grilled chicken (which I LOVE). I actually love tofu and soy, and I want to be healthier and less fatigued, so I don't THINK it'll be a problem. I don't want to risk eating anything bad that might be contained in chicken or tuna anymore. I'm not doing this for moral reasons or anything.
But...I did it right before the holidays.
Did I make a mistake? Could you guys do this during this time of year? Am I dumb? Am I courageous? Do I deserve some type of city parade?

If it is not for the morales then you are not a vegetarian. You are a guy that does not eat meat because it is not healthy

If it's not for moral reasons, I don't see why you couldn't allow yourself to enjoy a turkey dinner if you wanted to. If you eat healthy the majority of the time, it's not going to comprormise your health. As far as something bad being contained in chicken or turkey, as long as it's not undercooked, you should be fine. How many of us have been eating chicken, turkey, pork, and beef for ages and ages without ever having gotten food poisoning?
If you do decide to stick to your vegetarian diet for Thanksgiving, enjoy. That still leaves plenty of good eats to enjoy!

Go into your local butcher shop and start hollering about how "Vegetarian means I'm better than you!" Really stick it to them how your vegetarian lifestyle is superior to their animal-murdering ways.
Given that your local butcher shop is probably staffed by a bunch of guys carrying sharp knives, I don't see any possible problem with this plan.

Tofu and soy, ironically, isn't healthy for you either. Not if it is the biggest pillar to your diet.
If you want to eat healthy, and only that, then it is best to just try a wide variety of foods. Oh and exercise. Can't stress that enough. Just eating healthy won't make you healthy. You can still end up in poor health despite eating healthy. So exercise regularly.
You remember the period of human history where damn near every male were naturally ripped Adonises? There was a reason for that. Since they were mostly hunters and gatherers back then, they ate damn near anything they found, they also did a lot of natural exercise.

You better be very very careful about doing this. Most vegetarians have no idea how to eat right and become very very sick. There really isn't very many benefits to doing it. I'll probably get flamed for saying that since it isn't "politically correct" but it's true.

I mean yeah, most vegetarians get enough food to still be alive, but honestly, every vegetarian I've known in real life were honestly down to just skin and bones.

I'll probably get flamed for saying that since it isn't "politically correct" but it's true. Some do, but if you do enough research and take vitamins and whatnot, it's not that hard. I've been a vegetarian for quite some time, and I've barely even gotten the flu or anything. One of my other friends has been a vegetarian since she was in like 2nd grade, and she doesn't get sick either. Yes, it's possible, but it's not as widespread or prevalent as you'd like to think.

The way to be a healthy vegetarian is the same way to be healthy in any other diet. Learn about what your body needs and watch what you eat. If it is not for the morales then you are not a vegetarian. You are a guy that does not eat meat because it is not healthy If he sticks with it, he is. A vegetarian is just a human who is an herbivore. It doesn't have to be a moral stance. Now, those people who claim to be vegetarians but still eat fish or chicken, they aren't vegetarians.
