1998 Nagano Olympics. Canada loses in the shoot-out to the Czech Republic. I cried like a little bitch, even if I was 15. Wayne f***ing Gretzky got left out of the shoot out!!! I'm not even a huge fan of his and I knew that was a terrible idea. Thankfully we made up for it in '02

-Anything after game 2 of the 2006 NBA Finals.
-Mavs winning 67 games only to be smoked by the #8 Warriors in the 1st round of the playoffs.
-Watching David Carr and Chris Weinke play what was supposedly Quarterback for the Panthers.
-Jake Delhomme this seaon.
-Pretty much everyday as a Rangers fan with Tom Hicks as the owner. So the whole decade.

Seeing Sir Bobby Robson being wheeled around his charity match in really bad health but still as enthusiastic as ever and seeing the huge ovation he received, he died shortly after.

For me, the thread begins and ends with one word: Bartman. Although, to be fair, it wasn't really the catch that killed it, it was Dusty Baker being an idiot and not pulling the stupid PITCHER when it was obvious to EVERYONE he'd lost it.

2005 Playoffs. Cincinnati Bengals have gone 11-5 after years of being a joke and host the Steelers in a playoff game. Sadly, one play in and it's all over for Palmer. He's never been the same since, not even this season. But noooo, that wasn't a dirty hit at all . I don't even hear Steeler fan try to defend that garbage. 2005 NCAA Elite Eight. Kentucky vs. Michigan State. Kentucky has to rally back in the final minutes. They miss two shots in the final 12 seconds. Patrick Sparks has a long rebound bounce out to him and he his an unbelievable double clutching three that sends the game to OT. Sadly after the shot goes in, it all goes downhill for Kentucky. They lose the game, MSU goes back to the Final 4. The last great Kentucky team until this season.

-Twins being absolutely scared of the Yankees all decade
-Chunichi, the favorites going into the 2006 Japan Series, got outscored 22-4 by Nippon Ham over 5 games, and Nippon Ham won their first Japan Series in 44 years while the Dragons' title drought was now the longest in Japan by 30 years. Luckily we got our payback the next season.
-Minnesota football was up 21 to Michigan at home in 2003 going into the 4th quarter, yet everyone knew the Gophers would find a way to blow it. They did.
-Back to Minnesota football, they were up 31 against Texas Tech at halftime of the 2006 Insight Bowl, but as always, they blew it. Actually, this isn't very heartbreaking for me because I decided that if they blew this game I would renounce my Gopher fanhood. Go Blue.
-Nagoya Grampus, who had never won a J-League title, were the only team that could win the J-League title outside of league-leading Kashima Antlers going into the final matchday last season. The problem is, Nagoya played 4th-place Oita Trinita to a 0-0 draw while Kashima coasted to a 1-0 victory over last-place Consadole Sapporo. It wasn't heartbreaking as much as it was helpless, knowing that Kashima was playing a god-awful opponent at the end.
-San Francisco 49ers: the Dennis Erickson era.
-2002: The Tampa Bay Mutiny folded. (For those that know my full online moniker, "Firearm of Mutiny", that's where the "of Mutiny" came from. ;D)
-The Minnesota Wild only putting one puck Jean-Sebastien Giguere over 4 games in the 2003 Western Conference Final.
-The Timberwolves trading Kevin Garnett to the Celtics, ending an era of the Timberwolves being a competitive NBA franchise, perhaps forever.

The refs screwing the Mavs out of the NBA finals in 2006. And for that matter, refs screwing the Cardinals in the last Super Bowl and the refs screwing the Seahawks against the Steelers in their Super Bowl. The Seahawks played piss poor the entire game, refs didn't screw anyone. There were bad calls all around. As for the last Super Bowl, how did the refs screw the Cards. When you say refs, you must mean Ben Roethlisberger and Santonio Holmes. I don't think there is controversy at all in the game. Though, I guess I need to remember the rules, you lose to the Steelers, it has to be the refs.

Another one...
2004-05 - The Entire NHL Lockout. Especially knowing the Maple Leafs had all the pieces in place to make a serious run at the Stanley Cup.

Or is it just a major coincidence that whenever the Seahawks made a big play they were called back for a penalty? Amazing how Joey Porter had nothing to say about that.

A recent example for us Irish would be the Henry handball that ended our world Cup hopes. Trust me, we're gonna be moaning about that one for the next 20 years!

I will say this, Henry did step up and say he did it and thought it wasn't right that Ireland couldn't go to the Cup. Hopefully, he means it, because you don't see that kind of responsibility being taken in sports anymore. It hurts, but it was a classy thing to do.
