Just got another update via text: "Following this afternoon’s stabbing incident, all events and classes in Science I have been cancelled until further notice. The suspect is in custody at this time. University Police and the State Police are on site and are processing the evidence."
Not good at all. This person must've been stabbed multiple times.

I have family from around Binghamton and they mentioned, even before this news, how they have been kind of shocked at the direction the University has been going as of late. Supposedly its lagging behind the other SUNYs, with UAlbany quickly becoming the "prestigious" SUNY BU once was.
The major kicker, though, is how the University completely ignored academic integrity when recruiting the majority of the basketball team that went to the NCAA Tournament last year. Considering that team has seen one player flea the States due to permanently impairing another student, at least one in jail and awaiting a trial for dealing drugs and most of the other "high-risk" players being dismissed, they are trying to right the ship, but they seem to only be in the news as of late for all the wrong reasons.
A lot of bad PR and a drastic change in public perception locally, as they used to be proud of the school.

I don't mean to downplay the event here by any means at all, but perhaps it is not the school itsself that is crazy, but just the events which keep happening, which could happen anywhere.
There was a shooting at the university I went to in AR, around the area which I always had to walk through to go to my dorm, and people were consistently arrested on campus.
There was also the library worker who was shot by a fellow faculty member and killed on campus a few semesters ago at my current school.
Sadly, this is just becoming a part of our world. It's terrible, but true. Nothing you can do but protect yourself and those you care about, and try not to lose faith in people.
And we're here for ya, sorry stuff keeps happening to you at your school. Never easy to take.

I agree Backlund and Void. It's amazing though how this school has fallen. It's pretty much been overnight (this semester has been bad in particular)
I'm probably transferring after this semester but that's mostly because there's NO f***ING HISTORY INTERNSHIPS! Oy...

Just do it for your studies, not because of all the nuttiness there. I'm just glad you're still OK.

Plattsburgh was actually the runner up when I was thinking of schools but my Mother would never have allowed me to be so far away from home

BOOOOOOOOOedit: also, I wish not to make light of this situation. This is a sad state of affairs in Binghamton as I known as my roommate is from Vestal.

I really wasn't crazy about P-burgh when I was going there, hell, I don't even know if it'll be right for you (I was a media brat), but I always like to try to pimp people on it! Plus, Plattsburgh has the single coolest and laidback comic store ever.

My sister graduated from this school 2 years ago. I always thought it was a great school and community, but the town that it's in is dead.
Crazy to hear all the things happening now that she's gone from there.
