This was from a time period when they inexplicably tried to make MK more "family-friendly" by focusing more on the martial arts aspect rather than the fatalities (see also the two movies).

That's my main gripe. MK's main attraction was it's blood, gore and fatalities. Nothing good has ever come from neutering it. Not even making essentially a piss poor G.I Joe clone. And i will admit i was pretty tame with this review, but I have much to say about the Journey begins. if anything needs to be bashed to all hell it is definitely that.

I actually liked that cartoon, though it did need a lot more Scorpion.

Just in case that review wasn't enough, here's some VISUAL PROOF.
Language warning, but it's not much of one.

Actually, with the first Mortal Kombat movie.....I like it because it actually keeps with the mentality that this is a tournament.

Oh USA Network...your cartoons were pitiful, but for some reason, I still loved them. True it was a crappy way to represent MK, but to me at the time, I dug it.
The Animated Video post though...we may have words. Sure, the CGI sucks and the plot sucks and...okay it all sucks, but that is a video that has sentimental value to me so I may have to be the internet loser who whines and defends it without thinking.

After thinking it over, Darkstalkers was worse. Every character had there personality gutted *Morriganna....works with Demitiri.....MORRGIANNA WORKS WITH DEMITITRI* and alot of the designs were crap *Good god Morrigan looks like a man and I'm not even gonna mention what they did to Hsien Ko*. At least it had Trouble Man though.

If you were watching USA in mid 90s, you'd be very likely to find Defenders at some point. FSin, when you finish Mortal Kombat, could you please do the 3rd Season of Captain N? Its staggeringly bad.

They should have just made a virtua fighter or tekken cartoon. At least those franchises werent based on gory finishers.
