So, as of late, school hasn't been great. First off, I hate my major. I originally thought being a high school English teacher would be great for me. Now, four years later, I'm finding it was one of the worst choice I could have made. I'm not doing as well as I could be in my classes, and was recently told that no school would want to hire me with my GPA being a 2.8. To top this off, I was told today that even if I pass the required testing to do my student teaching, my professors think it would be best for me not to do it. I know this is all my fault, so I'm not making any excuses, but, damn, this sucks.

You could teach in private schools in shitty areas. All they care about is if you have a pulse. Seriously, don't feel too bummed out. My GPA was a full point higher than yours (BA in anthropology) and I can't get work anywhere. What matters is that you have the paper to prove you finished the degree. It also isn't too late to get it officially up over 3.0 cumulative. It won't be easy, but if you get to a 2.95, no one will fault you for rounding AS YOU WERE TAUGHT IN THE SAME EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM THAT NOW DISILLUSIONS AND REJECTS YOU! Also, since you don't need to student teach, you can work with your adviser to see how you could take bare-bones minimum degree courses in the spring and take some, you know, interesting/fun/EASY stuff instead.
