Friday I was having a party with friends to celebrate my birthday saturday and I ended up falling down an entire flight of stairs...I got a horrible concussion, broken nose, and fracture in my skull...I just got out of the ICU in Champaign , IL today and am so severely sore. Anyone ever dealt with a massive concussion before? If so what are some pointers you can give me regarding it? Ive realized that its normal to be sick to my stomach and that i am very light sensitive....I spent my entire birthday Saturday im a coma...

Just follow your doctors orders and take it easy.
Actually, now might be a Great time to re read the Dark Tower series and do little else.
It's nothing to screw around with..

Just take it easy. Since you're experiencing light sensitivity, and may be for a few days, I'd suggest cutting up a couple garbage bags and taping them over windows if the light is bothering you.
Stay in bed, read a lot, and use a flashlight in the dark instead of turning on lights. Sometimes turning on the lights like that can just trigger a nasty dizzy spell & headache. If you have a dimmer switch, make use of it.

Most of the other tips I usually give out already been covered. Only one I can think of now is, DO NOT BE ALONE! I am dead serious on this, have someone there to help you do almost everything as it will too easy to get in over your head and, hurt yourself. Last time I had a bad concussion, I had someone at the worst, a phone call away for about a week.

I suppose alot of rest and silence would be good.

I had a mild one once and I was in agony so I can't even imagine what you're going through. Most of the advice I could give has already been given so just take it easy.

I've got no advice beyond what others have said.
But I thought you joined the military?
Get well.

You're already doing better than I did during any of my concussions. There's no way I would have been able to get on a computer and read. Reading was actually one of the most painful things for me to do for some reason. I remember after the first one. All I wanted to do is lay still with my eyes closed, Not talk to anyone, Not listen to anything. Laying in silence was the only thing that didn't hurt.
Oh and.

I got a pretty bad one playing football and didn't realize it for like 3 hours. I started getting sick and went home for a nap (whoops...), but I tried to get on the computer first and all the text was scrambled to me Just don't do what one of our friends did. He started getting post-concussion real bad and waited 'till he was temporarily blind before going back to the hospital...

I did the same thing without breaking anything...didn't have any side effects, just felt drunk for about a week.

The main problem im dealing with is the fluid buildup by my right ear from the fractured skull that is making it where I cant hear very well out of that ear...its as if I have very bad swimmers ear in that ear...the Doctors refused to try to drain it themselves and opted instead to let it naturally take its course...I hope that they are right in that decision

Do you remember falling? Or did you just wake up in the hospital wondering what happened?

Be careful during the recovery process. Make yourself as comfortable as possible and feel better.

For something like that you would want to see a specialist. If they slip up just a little around your ear you could lose your hearing. Regular doctors doing things that specialist are suppose to be doing just isn't a good idea.

Jesus, that's terrible, man. I'm glad you're on the road to recovery, but what a shitty way to spend your birthday.
Oh, btw...happy birthday!
