In this Let's Play I will show you how to destroy and strike terror in the face of medieval factions as the Holy Roman Empire in medieval 2 total war!
Why The Holy Roman Empire? Well for one I wanted to pick a faction that was a starting faction so if anyone wanted to pick up this game based on this let's play they wouldn't have any problems. The Holy Roman Empire also have a bunch of starting territories so their campaign isn't all that hard.
They're colors are also black and yellow, which as you know are the same colors as batman and the wu-tang clan, which means the holy roman empire are awesome by default.
Plus this crazy thing is their coat of arms.
Anyway, we're going to be doing a short campaign for this let's play which entails that we hold 20 regions and eliminate Denmark and Milan from history.
So let's click the start campaign button and go!
This guy is talking about how I'm going to eliminate milan and denmark from history, and how the holy roman empire are not actually roman.
After a brief beginning cutscene we are left with this!
As you can see I have control over Frankfurt, Nuremburg, Staufen, Innsbruck, Vienna, and.... Bologna . But I assure you that this let's play will not be bologna! Oh no sir! It will be about other deli meats!... I mean taking over the world!
The first thing you should do in this game is go to every town and make sure you have land clearance.
What land clearance does is that it makes sure that your population will grow and therefore give you more money which can be used to spend on other things, such as bologna! It can also be used to build better towns and recruit more units. If you don't build land clearance at the beginning of the game... well you're screwed.
But this is called Medieval 2 Total War, so another way to get money is to take castles and cities. Once you've taken the town you can then sack the city killing off some of the populace but also reaping in the moolah.
The first cities you should attack are the various Rebel cities around you're territories. These are the factions that show up as grey. These guys are generally terrible and are easy to take. So With that in mind I march off the armies from Frankfurt to take Hamburg in the north and I march off the armies of Bologna to take Florance in the south!
When you attack a castle you'll put it under siege, this will give you time to create siege equipment such as battering rams, ladders, and siege towers. Also when you have a town under siege they will surrender in x number of turns.
And thus ends turn 1. Check back later for turn number 2 with information about units and battles.
