We all love lists, right? A good way to stir up some debate up in here, SO.....
Back in 2002, World Wrestling Federation folded under pressure from the big panda at World Wildlife Fund over a name dispute and officially changed its name to "World Wrestling Entertainment" on May 5, 2002. You would think Vince and the gang would actually focus on the "Entertainment" in their new name, but you all know by now they have a different concept on what "Entertainment" is.
Right now, let's take a look at some of the most particularly crappy matches WWE had since changing its name in 2002.
***NOTE***: I will not be including any matches from the 2009 Gooker winner Hornswoggle vs. Chavo feud because let's face it, most of their matches will just dominate the list.
10. Mickie James vs. Jillian Hall/Melina vs. Jillian Hall - RAW (October 2009)
Poor Mickie James. I'm certain in WWE's eyes, every diva needs to look like a runway model. They decided it would be best to make James' "weight gain issues" public by ridiculing her with the whole Piggy James angle. However, it all started when James had to do the J.O.B. to Jillian Hall and dropped the Divas title. The real kicker though is that immediately after this match, Melina came out and Hall jobbed to her as well. The thing that made these two matches bad was that there were some blown spots, especially with Melina's finisher.
9. Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg - Wrestlemania XX (March 2004)
You know how it is when you're on the last day on the job; slack off a lot, try to steal every pen, stapler, and paper clips off your desk, tell your boss to go to hell, and so on. Lesnar and Goldberg gave us the equivalent of that during their overly hyped matchup at Wrestlemania. People knew Goldberg was going to take the money and run as his contract was running out, but no one saw Lesnar getting the hell out of Dodge in order to tryout for the Minnesota Vikings (but instead found luck in MMA). Luckily for WWE, the special guest referee Steve Austin saved this one from being a total disaster.
8. The Coach & Al Snow vs. Jim Ross & Jerry Lawler - Unforgiven (September 2003)
Vince's attempt no. 23085 of getting rit of good ol' JR from RAW. What made this obnoxious was that there was no announcing during the match plus zero reaction from the crowd, so the crickets were chirping away. I should point out the stipulation was whoever won the match got to announce RAW, but of course, even if Coach and Snow won that night, JR and King would return a few weeks later.
7. Elimination Chamber Match - December To Dismember (December 2006)
It's a pretty ballsy move these days to have a PPV with announcing only two matches on the card hoping the main event will sell itself. Well, for WWE's case back then, it was a p*ss-poor move as the December To Dismember PPV received the lowest PPV buy rates in WWE history. As for the main event itself...ugh...what a disaster. Fans were in total dismay when RVD and CM Punk were eliminated and couldn't care at all for the rest of the Elimination Chamber with Lashley, Big Show, and Test. In fact, the crowd started chanting "TNA" and doing the wave throughout the arena. When this one was mercifully over with Lashley celebrating as ECW Champion, WWE put the kibosh on future December To Dismembers. Unfortunately for Paul Heyman though, he got the heat for the PPV disaster and got shown out the door.
6. Scott Steiner vs. Triple H - Royal Rumble (January 2003)
Not even all the rustproofing in the world could've saved Steiner from the amount of ring rust he showed off in his title match against HHH. At one point in the match, Steiner messed up a Tiger Driver move so badly, the crowd was all over him throughout the match. Not to mention, it seemed like the only move Steiner got going on for him in this match was the countless number of belly-to-belly suplexes.
5. John Cena vs. Kevin Federline - RAW (January 2007)
Ahh...it's a new year. What better way to ring in 2007 for WWE by having John Cena vs......K-FED?!?!? It looked like the year was going to be a terrible one as the first ever televised match of 2007 featured WWE champion John Cena taking on the former Mr. Britney Spears in a no-disqualification match. On the plus side, at least you didn't had to spend 40-50 bucks to watch this fiasco. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the next one...
4. Big Show vs. Akebono - Wrestlemania XXI (April 2005)
Big Show in a thong....do I need to say more?
3. The Sandman vs. Zombie - ECW on Sci-Fi (June 2006)
Any glimmer of hope that WWE's resurrection of ECW would go back to its old-school roots was immediately quashed on the first ever match on the debut episode of ECW on Sci-Fi. Apparently, the heads over at the Sci-Fi channel wanted to incorporate some sci-fi elements into the show, so WWE shut them up by dressing up Tim Roberts as "The Zombie" and was added to the opening match against Sandman...only to be squashed by Sandman's singapore cane. Hey, at least Zombie's legacy lives on here at Wrestlecrap.
2. Trish Stratus & Bradshaw vs. Jackie Gayda & Chris Nowinski - RAW (July 2002)
Alright, not to knock on the poor gal, but I think JR summed up the best part of the match: "Mercifully, this one's over." To give Gayda credit, she was pretty much thrown to the wolves in her debut match in WWE without getting prepped over in Ohio Valley Wrestling.
1. "Rosie" vs. "Donald" - RAW (January 2007)
Not so much a match per say, but in WWE's eyes, it sure was. This was an absolute time waster as the whole crowd watching this were not only bored to tears, but literally screaming for their refunds. What's even scarier that this went on for a good 10 minutes! I should mention that this was a really bad period of time to be a WWE fan as this followed the ECW December To Dismember (see #7) and John Cena vs. Kevin Federline (see #5).
Of course feel free to add in other craptacular WWE matches since its 2002 inception.
