I agree, I could care less why he was driving at that hour, I'm more concerned over what happened once he started driving. If he did have a medical event, what's going to prevent it from happening again?
He also can't have been going very fast, otherwise the air bags would have activated, right?

For all we know, he swerved to avoid a cat/dog/something, or hell maybe even had a bee/wasp in the car and he lost control.
It happens.

TMZ.com's report sounds like it was a domestic issue between Tiger and his wife:
I'll take it with a grain of salt until more reputable sources come in, but with the rumors of him cheating on his wife, I wouldn't be too shocked if this ended up being the case....

I personally have driven off after arguments with my ex wife at that hour; and it's probably only the grace of God or luck i didn't get into an accident.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Obviously you have to take reports from TMZ and the Enquirer with a grain of salt, but there are a couple parts of this story that confuse me. Like why his wife immediately ran outside with a golf club in hand upon hearing the crash. Or why she broke the back window to pull him out instead of hitting either of the front windows, unlocking the door, and getting him out that way. I think it's entirely possible that it was something as simple as swerving to avoid hitting an animal in the road, or having a medical situation in the car. But I think it's just as possible that there's more to this than meets the eye. Strikes me as a bizarre story.

He also can't have been going very fast, otherwise the air bags would have activated, right? Yeah, the standard speed a vehicle has to travel to have the air bags activate is 33 mph.

Sky News dropped their other stories and had random vaguely related aerial views of whatever for hours. Must be a slow news day for them to do that, seeing as he's totally fine and all.

Yeah, given we think it was the house next door, he wouldn't have had time to gather speed. Just enough to displace the fire hydrant and get stopped by the tree.

Let's just say I believe virtually nothing from the police report, other than "there was a car accident".
From the moment I heard about this story, something about it just didn't sound right. I mean, why would Tiger Woods be leaving his home at 2 a.m. on the morning after Thanksgiving? Did he want to beat the rest of the public to Best Buy or Wal-Mart?
And then there was the factor of him hitting a fire hydrant and a tree in a single-car accident. At 2 in the morning. I don't want to imply anything, but let's just say that he had to have been impaired in some way, shape or form to suddenly smash into a fire hydrant.
Then I heard the story about his wife having the wherewithal to hear an accident outside, then run out with a golf club and heroically save the day. By smashing the BACK window. Once again, I don't want to imply anything, but I mean, come on...
And all of this coming two days after there were reports that Tiger Woods has been cheating on his wife. Let's just say the puzzle is slowly piecing itself together. This is not at all the last time we hear the last of this story in the coming days.

Yeah, he's a golfer, so he probably has golf clubs lying around the house. But to hear a noise outside and instinctively run to find a golf club? I just don't buy it. And it still doesn't explain why she tried to smash in the back window of the car to get him out. This piece on Deadspin seems to sum up my thoughts (language):

I'm actually wondering if she heard the crash, looked outside, saw the situation, THEN grabbed the club.
Guys, we'll get the facts over time. I will say the one thing that really raises my eyebrows is not letting the police talk to Tiger once he got home. If he was hurt enough where he couldn't be disturbed, he shouldn't have been released from the hospital.

After they said that alcohol was not involved, this is what I was expecting. In no way was I buying the police report.

As the general consensus is that he's been released from hospital and is more or less fine... ![](http://i49.tinypic.com/3588l1s.jpg) I see this and raise you: ![](http://i48.tinypic.com/21ex7o6.png)
