December 14, 1979-2009 Days earlier I posted a 30 year old birthday to The Wall, so lets do the same for another classic essential 1979 double LP rock album. One that is relatively cheap for two discs of just great music, for only $10. How good is London Calling? Consider that released in December 1979 in UK, some there still argue its the best rock album released from that rich decade. Then released in America on January 1980, Rolling Stone magazine later would name it the best album of the 1980s. The Raging Bull of 1980s rock. Or that when The Clash singer Joe Strummer died, you had guys like Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, and others perform this album's title track at the Grammys. I mean that's some fanboys to collect, you know? Or that Rolling Stone Magazine named it #8 greatest album. Better than Nevermind, Thriller, The Wall, Dark Side of the Moon, Back in Black, Abbey Road, Let it Bleed, The White Album, etc. I won't write up a bloated fanboy essay of why its great. Instead explore it on YouTube, and enjoy the music. Since I reached my video threshold, be sure to at least check out "Spanish Bombs," "Wrong'Em Boyo," "Death or Glory," "Koka Kola," and of course "Rudie Can't Fail."

Great album with a few songs I never get sick of even though I never listen to the album in full any more.
Also, this hasn't been packaged on two discs for years, the thing's only about an hour and five minutes long.

Practically perfect in every way. Koka Kola is legit one of my five favourite songs ever.

I heard Train In Vain on Radio 1 the other day which was a surprise so I turned the volume up in my car to ear bleeding levels. But it was worth it. Great band, great album, just wish I could get in a time machine and see them live.

I find myself randomly singing songs off this album so much. One of my favorites of all time.

I love the cover. So iconic, as evidenced by all of the parodies/homages out there.

I love the cover. So iconic, as evidenced by all of the parodies/homages out there. Which is interesting, considering that cover was done as a throwback/homage to the cover of Elvis Presley's debut album.
