Woah woah woah! Sarah Chalke was on Rosanne? So you did not see her in her work uniform on Rosanne? That's too bad. I'll just leave you with this one phrase: hot pants. ;D

I remember not really caring for Sarah Chalke at the time. There was just something awkward about her. But flash forward to today and I totally adore her (or maybe Elliot Reid). I see her as a goof and down to earth actress now and would love to see her in her Rosanne role again.

But she came in as the Becky Character was maturing. So maybe that's why.

Why did original Becky leave? I loved this vid by the way. They did reference that quite a bit

My understanding she left b/c she wanted to continue her studies. But it gets really confusing later on when Becky #2 left and was replaced by the original only for the original to leave and be replaced by the second one again later.

That was great. Always loved those jokes. Thank you TVLand. I get to watch Roseanne and Married...With Children daily because of them.

The Patty Duke Show parody is one of the funniest things I've ever seen on a sitcom. I love the in-jokes. I can't stand Sarah Chalke's Becky. Give me Lecy's dorky Becky any day.

She left to pursue school but something happened & then she came back. Rosanne didn't wanna fire both, as she liked them both...so they rotated. I remember the new Becky's first episode, they were watching Bewitched as a family & talking about the switching of Darren & Becky #2 says, "I like the second Darren better." And right before the Walt Disney World trip, Becky #2 comes in the house with Mark & Roseanna announces the family vacation...then she turns to Becky #2 & says, "Aren't you glad you showed up this week?"

I loved it when Lecy showed up again for the first time.

So, I forget--was Becky just a part of the show where, when addressing her, the fourth wall would fall, then when conversations with other actors occurred, the wall would be up again?
'Cause that sounds awesomely confusing.

Funny stuff right there. Until I found out online, I never knew there were two Beckys. I wasn't one for watching credits before either so that wouldn't have helped.

'Cause that sounds awesomely confusing. Roseanne would break the fourth wall a decent bit by the end of its run...it just happened most often with Becky, because, as mentioned before, within single seasons, the two actresses would alternate playing Becky from episode to episode, so they would often make off comments about it.

Wikipedia says:
"During the show's fifth season actress Lecy Goranson left to attend Vassar College. At first, her character Becky is merely absent from the show, explained in the story when she marries and moves away to live with her husband Mark. During the sixth season, however, the show's producers recast Becky with actress Sarah Chalke.
Because cast and crew believed that the eighth season of Roseanne would be its last, Goranson had signed back on only for that season. These changes are addressed within the show and become a running gag throughout season 8 as both Goranson and Chalke continue to alternate in the role of Becky, depending on Goranson's availability. During season eight, Goranson is credited in the opening sequence as a full-time cast member, and appears in 11 out of 25 episodes. Sarah Chalke makes five appearances and is credited as a guest star. In the show's ninth season, Chalke replaces Goranson full-time, and no further "in-jokes" about Becky's casting are made. At the end of the season 9 finale, it is hinted that Becky is pregnant. She did not want to mention it to the family because of Darlene having her baby and not wanting to steal the attention by announcing it to the family."
