Do Kevin's parents ever mention if they know about what happened to the house in the first movie?
Me and my g/f just watched the first home alone movie. And at the end when Buzz yells "Kevin what did you do to my room!?" My g/f said she would blame it on the burglars. I told her that the family doesn't know about the burglars. She then said that there's no way the parents wouldn't find out about it eventually.
So, do Kevin's parents ever say they found out?

No, they never found out the burglers were in their house but that they were in the neighborhood. Harry and Marv were caught at the neighbors house and because Marv turned the sinks in each of the homes they robbed. The McCallister home was never robbed, broken into but not robbed and that's something I don't believe was found out. Harry and Marv aren't going to go around saying a kid beat them up and outsmarted them.
Kevin got in trouble for wrecking Buds room since the bb gun was missing and they'd put two and two together. They would find out about the neighborhood robberies by the Wet Bandits and just be relieved Kevin was fine after all. This, I think, happened between the two movies and not stated in the second aside that he was left alone on Christmas the previous year.

Exactly.
They're both basically the same movie, same basic formula (to a degree), same type ending as well.
Always thought it was convenient how those robbers happened to be in NYC at the same time as the kid.

Always thought it was convenient how those robbers happened to be in NYC at the same time as the kid. Not to mention the sheer odds of them stumbling into him randomly in the biggest city in the world |

Not to mention the sheer odds of them stumbling into him randomly in the biggest city in the world New York isn't the biggest city in the world (it's 13th in fact) and the fact that the robbers and Kevin stumble across each other is a huge coincidence, not convoluted. Convoluted means something is intricate or complicated. Their randomly running into each other is anything but either of those. Sorry, I just had to get that straight. I know I'm sounding like some uptight jerk.  |

Well, I think that if we're really gonna think about this, Christmas was hardly the time to bring it up, so it probably got dealt with much later. Yes, Kevin was a strangely clever kid. But seriously, as a parent that somehow forgot their kid? Do you honestly think they could bring themselves to complain to him after that? |
