Commander Riker's beard was great, but it was not as good as Lieutenant Riker's (the transporter clone's) goatee. DS9 had a similar elevation due to change in hairstyle. Once Sisko shaved his head and grew a goatee, he looked and acted the badass that he always was supposed to be (kind of like Hawk, that previous character that Avery Brooks was famous for playing). Sadly, it didn't dawn on me until he shaved his head and grew the goatee that he was the actor that played Hawk. I remember the first time I saw him that way, the little voice in my head said, "Hey, that's Hawk!" And I hadn't seen a Spenser: For Hire episode for so many years.

I seem to remember men wearing dresses in the first season too for some reason.

I seem to remember men wearing dresses in the first season too for some reason. I think it was an attempt at making the old ass hugging miniskirts from TOS seem less sexist.

I seem to remember men wearing dresses in the first season too for some reason. Yeah, those were the alternate uniforms available to both genders. Apparently in the 23rd Century, we've gotten past the whole "chicks wear skirts" thing. Then they realized it just looked stupid on a guy, so we never saw it again.

They did have some weird episodes. Like the one where Riker fell in love with the hermaphrodite.

Thankfully, they just dropped those sorts of uniforms by season 3. They were just strangely hideous, regardless of the gender wearing them If Marina Sirtis couldn't pull them off...ugh.

It didn't make any sense, why wouldn't all the women wear pants as opposed to the men wearing dresses?
And weren't the women called 'sir' too?

They did have some weird episodes. Like the one where Riker fell in love with the hermaphrodite. But she was secretly a chick. And fugly. Don't know why Riker wanted to hit that.

it was supposed to be some sort of badly handled commentary about homophobia. in the end it just made them look like a planet of man-hating alien bull-dykes.

She was rocking some accent, and you had no idea what it was supposed to be. Oh god, the movie was just so gawdawful, it wasn't even enjoyable in a so bad it's good way, like Shark Attack 3: Megalodon.
